could you please explain the difference between 'spectral spatial' and 'spectral' domain?
The 2D display you see on Extra Boy Pro has spatial domain (panning position) on the horizontal axis and frequency domain on the vertical axis. The others mentioned show a spectrograph, which is time on the horizontal axis and frequency domain on the vertical axis i.e. no spatial information.

When you draw an ROI in Extra Boy Pro this affects a defined range of frequencies at a define range of panning positions. When you draw an ROI in Audition this affects a defined range of frequencies for a defined duration.

Extra Boy Pro is working in real-time and so the time axis is represented by the changing 2D display.
...now that's woth looking into. Cheers!

you are NOT actually limited, like birrbits said, to using only a rectangle. u can use the lasso to capture any shape u like across the time, amplitude, freq, phase, or pan domain!

thanks for those links yemski!

i already have SPEAR and have enjoyed using it. my complaint is that it doesnt seem to be able to export to a .wav, unless im missing something.

here is another one i found o nthe net the other day but have not yet tried

What you're missing is that in SPEAR it's called (equivocally) synthesize instead of export. Simply go to: Main Panel -> Sound -> Synthesize To File (Cntrl+Y).

Hope it help.
