The new folder tracks would allow for this...Mr Coffeehouse wrote:Ben -
Will there be any way to do group fade-in and fade-out of a group of audio clips? (not as automation tho)
I like doing this type of editing very much on groups of drums and backing vocals, etc.. on my HDR.
Thanks!!

One hopes... it was not explicitly mentioned by beno as one of the functions that group edits could perform.jplanet wrote:The new folder tracks would allow for this...Mr Coffeehouse wrote:Ben -

That's why I directed the question at Ben - To gets the definitive scoop.
Ben - what's the lowdown on this one?
Now, if Tracktion also had a HDR style editing page - as suggested by Mr Gardner and myself in the past (only a HDR user could really appreciate this prior to having it in T3 I imagine), this would be the greatest world ever...

Sorry I missed this the first time Mr. Tingle asked it. The answer is not at this point, but should be something we add eventually. It would make sense that if you had multiple clips selected, the fades would be linked.Mr Coffeehouse wrote:Will there be any way to do group fade-in and fade-out of a group of audio clips? in the meantime i guess you could use automation on that new VCA filter thing to achieve the same ends ... albeit more labouriously ...

I fail to see how creating a fade-out with Tracktion's automation could be described as 'labourious'
even without folders you can route your tracks to a sub-group to be faded together...

It depends on the type of editing, sometimes automation is the right thing, other times fade-in/out per clip is perfect and for a bunch of clips simultaneously, even more perfect.IIRs wrote:I fail to see how creating a fade-out with Tracktion's automation could be described as 'labourious'even without folders you can route your tracks to a sub-group to be faded together...

Yeah, its bloody frustrating, every other plugin' I use suffers from this!!gbles wrote:Has there been any mention of a fix for the click-throughs? A pathetic item to have on my wish-list for T3, but its a little annoying.

Yet another bug I just can't get to happen. Why can't I get these things to happen? I know they are there. What plugins does it do it on? And what do you do to get it to happen?
I just want to recreate it so I can relate more to people who talk about it. Not that I don't believe you!
Cheers!

hell ... i like Ts automation as much as anyone ... only meant it in the sense that if you want fades on a lot of seperate clips it could get a bit fiddly with lots of nodes and curves ...IIRs wrote:I fail to see how creating a fade-out with Tracktion's automation could be described as 'labourious'even without folders you can route your tracks to a sub-group to be faded together...

Fade-in/out via collection clips could be the basic operations used when crossfading collection clips. Since you can split a collection clip and move a collection clip and splice collection clips you would also want to crossfade collection clips. So without fade-in/out editing collection clips will become difficult.

Not necessarily. Since the collection clips are just representing what is inside the folder track, and whatever you would want to crossfade would likely be related, just put all the crossfaded clips into the collection clip. Then you shouldn't have to have crossfading of the collection clips.
Now, I agree it would be a nice extra to have. But maybe it's not necessary? I don't know of any other host that does crossfading of an entire folder's contents. Are there any?(there may be, I just haven't seen it)
