Squids, do you know anything about the upcoming updates of Sampletank and SonikSynth?
When will Sampletank be able to read Philharmonik sounds and when will it get the send effects for example?
Can we expect a new release of IK Multimedia and/or Sonic Reality this year?

I do know quite a bit about that but of course I cannot say anything just yet. The only thing I can say is that a lot of things in development, including products that have not yet been announced, inter-relate in a cool way.

Post

I just got the Fall/Winter catalog of a major supply house this week, and I notice that Studiophonik isn't in it. It WAS in their Spring catalog, so I figured something was up.

So many plugins, so little time...

Let's put it this way... we should have released it last year but because we were trying to go extremely diverse on the band character instruments to make it that much more unique and it took a lot longer to the point where it began to make more sense to use the next generation ST engine (even more advanced than Philharmonik's). But, we went ballistic on the sessions all this time so all kinds of ST and other format products in the areas of drums and rock/pop/jazz band instruments will (and already are with Rex/Apple Loops/Wave for example) gushing out like mad. Infinite series and more... Squids gone wild. If I could go back and not announce those things so eary I would but I can't so pressing on it will fall into place and when you see the big picture it will make total sense. You'll be like "aha!!!! ok now I get it!". I've hinted at a few things but there's even more... I should just be quiet but you know I like to keep you guys in the loop on what's going on as much as I can. All will be revealed soon enough!

Post

Sounds great as usual! Looking forward to seeing the big picture :)

A little OT but since this thread has focus at the moment, anything new happening with the REX Manager/Convertor?

Dan
Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

The RAW manager at the moment is an in-house tool but we're working on making it a public thing. The converter is another story. A little tricky that one! I will explain later about that.

So... no Studiophonik in 2006?

Let's just say it will be clear by that time what the story is. ;)

Okay, as Squids hands/tentacles are tied, how about we change the tone of the post into what those products/features could be? So I'm going to say it was Colonel Squids with the "Synth Lead" Pipe in the Anaheim Center. (jeez, far worse than the glengarry ross gag)! Anyway:

I seem to recall Squids writing about multi-channel REX files, in that you could mix other mic positions within a REX loop. So each channel effectively becomes a mic, allowing YOU to become the producer (well, that's the marketing cliche I would use). Expanding on this idea, you could then have the multi-sampled instruments following this multi-channel thread thus clearly evolving into the "Studio in a Box" idea. As IK proved they can effectively model classy mics in Amplitube 2, which would allow you to create your own drum kit and mic setup (ala BFD), or mix a piano from multiple mic/channel placements.

As for inter-related products, as a Total Bundle Owner, I would love to think that IK are putting together some form of universal sound platform (ala Kore). IK have really been marketing the bundled products in the 10 year promo (congrats, btw) and the Bundles themselves - so to further push those sales and to shore up support from existing owners, it would make sense to consolidate the products in a single platform, rather than users go elsewhere for this (like Kore) and possibly open up backline for smaller upgrades like pedals or amp models, seeing how long Amplitube 2 was, i'd prefer to see this version expanded upon as opposed to waiting years for a new version. It would also make sense for a hardware controller too, which would go alongside the Stomp Box and Stealthplug - again building towards the inter-related "Studio in a Box" analogy.

heh, i'm probably way off on a few things there, but thought it would be fun to take a pop at a few ideas.

SampleTank will be able to read the new version of Miroslav Philharmonik that is being released very soon I believe.

I cannot comment just yet on the other... apart from this year is almost over so not this year. Perhaps the next! ;)

Post

So how will the Miroslav update look like?
Is it just a download of the engine or will there be new sound disks?
I'm asking this because ST2.2 tells me if I want to load Philharmonik sounds, that I have to update my Miroslav sound content from version 1.0 to 1.1. :help:

Best regards
