Re-orged presets in Zebra2

I wanted (badly enough) to use all of the old factory presets from the original Zebra in the latest version.
I re-organized all the settings files by instrument type, cause thats the way I like them, which worked fine. None of the older settings files work though, but at least they are handled nicely (no crashy)
Is there any way I can reformat the old settings files to work in the latest version?
thnx

Zebra 2 is a completely different synth from Zebra 1 - you can't load Z1 patches into Z2.
The best you can do is try to recreate them, but that won't be entirely successful as some features have changed - I know, as I have a few of my own Z1 patches I tried to recreate in Z2 without much success.
Urs was planning to do a conversion program at one time, but I don't think it has a high priority, or even if the idea has been abandoned.

You can use Zebra 1.5 and Zebra 2.x simultaneously.
Patch conversion is very difficult. Even those patches that could be recreated 1:1 in theory (same layout, same parameter settings), sound pretty different.

Is Zebra 1.5 available as a UB?Urs wrote:You can use Zebra 1.5 and Zebra 2.x simultaneously.

Seriously, I don't think you can expect developers to port old versions to a new platform.

Hmmm - I am surprised that that is even practical but more power to you if you can do it. I was thinking that if Z 1.5 used AltiVec routines and was handcoded/optimised for the PowerPC floating point units then adapting all that to x87/SSE that would be a hell of a lot of rewriting. I also thought that the development envirnment would be new and different.Urs wrote:Me, you canegbert wrote:Seriously, I don't think you can expect developers to port old versions to a new platform.

Well, I guess that most people will be using Z2 from now on. But as Z1.5 presets don't load in Z2, it's important to ensure backward compatibility for existing projects.egbert wrote:Hmmm - I am surprised that that is even practical but more power to you if you can do it. AltiVec is no big issue. I had mostly used it in filter algorithms, which are identical with their counterparts in Z2. And in Z2 they are SSE'd already
So, Zebra1.5 UB is mostly a recompile and following some changes in the AU environment.
Cheers,

Urs, that would be very cool. Z1,Z2,Triple Cheese..
I'm going to try out your CAUGui framework this weekend. It looks very cool. Thanks for sharing!
