Is SFZ a hidden gem?

Hi guys
I'd admit that I've had my receptor for a while now and hadn't really played with SFZ. However, last night I found that there were extra soundfonts on the receptor and to me this looks like a really light weight sample player that could be really useful for quick bread and butter sounds. But then the question is, is there much available in the soundfont format?
I've searched the forum and am downloading the SGM 180 and the Equinox piano. Can you for example, get goodish string libraries in soundfont?

Cheers
Kim

Don't search here. Google soundfont, sf2 and you
'll find some gems. OTOH, if you have a sample library in some other format I have about 100 gigs of Gigastudio stuff (of which I actually use about 20...) Translator and others convert into soundfont format, so I now have a great Blue Note trumpet-tenor soundfont from Phantom Horns. Perfect for the Sunday jazz brunch...

Hi,

I am brand new to Receptor (have had it 2 days), and was thinking the same thing re: SFZ .. particularly getting up and running on stage with samples vs. going through the process of working with NI figuring out how to cross-grade Kompakt from a Komplete 2 licensing ..

BUT, thinking SFZ was a great way to start learning the plugin installation process and the Receptor in generaly, the installation consistantly fails. Did you have any issues installing?

Currently, i'm connecting to the RECEPTOR with iMac G5 via local router, and run the Muse remote software. I dropped the downloaded SFZ file (with some .rpkg extension i think .. stands for receptor package?) into the 'drop installers here' .. but no go.

any advice?

TIA

Installation will fail if the plug is already installed, and a new Receptor should have it. Just load the patch, then load a soundfont...

hmm .. now there's something i didn't consider .. duh! thanks man. I've only worked by way through about half of the supplied plugs so far. Great to know that. my next step was to check the log file.

cheers!

Just look in the instrument list, it's probably already there-at least it was on mine...
