Get it at the same place as the previous one. (grymmjack, same goes for your "special" )

Some new features and one major (internal) rethink:

- Reverb damping fader added. (Should be set right in the middle for old patches.)

- Reverb and delay volume faders now have an exponential response curve for finer control over low/moderate FX settings. Old patches will have way too much wet signal by default - needs to be re-balanced.

- Clip warning LED added at the master volume fader: When this lights, you will get digital clipping when running the host at 0dB output. (The Dist FX can REALLY boost the signal amplitude out of all proportion, so this acts as a good help to keep levels on the sane side!)

- Previously, the master volume level control affected the input signal before the FX chain; most notably, it thus varied the strength of the dist input signal, which wasn't good. Now the master volume level is truly the final stage of the signal chain. It meant adding a couple of more amps (and CPU load), but it was unavoidable.

This may have some effect on old patches that use the Dist FX: To vary the input level to the FX chain, you now have to use the individual EG1/EG2 faders for the oscillators (and the expression input level faders).

Thanks to all testers, whose patches and input helps me get the thinking straight! :)

UI after changes (will adjust to new version once downloaded)

Now is the iterative process of the people telling us what they think and we adjust. I've made the PSD file very flexible to accommodate any changes to the labels and the background colors/brightness. The controls are set in stone though, sorry. The knobs are remaining that brightness. I did brighten them up though, and gave more intensity to the ticks on them.

Let me know what you all think.

The new version has a subtle gradient on the BG BTW, and I'm not sure if I like it or not. It does look more 'metallic' but hrm.. Dunno.

Like the new adjusted UI more though myself, looks more 'pro' I guess... maybe it is that gradient.. ? heh.

Post

yeesssss.... the gradient absolutely adds to the polish of it.. and it gives the panels more "depth" the gradient almost simulates for me the idea of the panels being real and what they might look like in a physical space...... (if it was a real hardware unit)... excellent work

I think the changes look great! A big improvement for legibilty and ease of use. I'd still like to see the "knobs" get brighter (I know, you're on it) and the illuminated numerals get larger (I find them hard to read at a glance). I'd also suggest the name be the same shade as the rest of the text for continuity, but it's interesting how the toned down name blends with the overall text if you squint, so either way would be cool. The sectional break rules look so much better being lighter too. Looking good!

With your desires in place. The digits are not resizable, SE limitation I think. So nothing can be done there.

I adjusted the knobs using and buttons using a levels adjustment layer, and adjusted the background a bit, more saturation, little darker, and brightened the box outlines as well as the labels a little bit.

Post

you can see the original color of the knob on the Pedal input switch and the modwheel range slider...

I don't like the knobs being this bright personally...

I gotta ask, are you using a LCD flat panel or a CRT? is your contrast/brightness calibrated with adobe gamma or any other tool?

Post

Sorry to hear of the non-resizable digits, but understood. I've never seen the button outlines before so I never realized how large the slider knobs are. Not complaining , just imagined they were more horizional in shape.

I use a 20" Relisys CRT monitor that I have the gamma set at 2.0 as a safe mix of Windows (2.2) and Mac (1.8). By career definition, my monitors HAVE to be set very exactly and precisely (90% of my work now is illustrating book and mag covers). But I'll admit viewing this layout made me check my settings.

But I'm far from the only one requesting brighter labels and knobs. I suspect if you're working on a Mac you're seeing much brighter gamma results. Probably best to put it to a vote and run with whatever the masses say. You know, greatest good for the greatest number scenario. I like the way it's looking now, but of course go with what feels right! I'm dropping out of this thing now. GOOD LUCK!!!

Love the BG Gradient! Adds just that "something" extra. The slider indicator lines (red) could be brighter giving a better sense of their location along the slder path. Can't see much to add after that (maybe just a little more reflection off the top of the slider knobs). Another professional Grymmjack skin! :hail:

EDIT: Didn't see the second version of your skin. Looks like you've already made the slider markers lighter. Master artist AND mind reader, very impressive. :hihi:
