i hope they don't get rid of the plugin all together. jeece! i've been thinking about considering buying this one. but if they're using a dongle, then FAGHETABOUTIT!!!! no way. nobody wants the dongle but a few nerdy c**ts that feel special-er than anyone else. this has already been discussed and made a "man law". it's a closed issue. go call your mom and borrow the cash for a real amp and some mics. amplitube looks dead, unless they drop the dongle thing.

Well, I did just order it Friday from Audiomidi.com. They are out of stock at the moment. I think I'm gonna give them a call.lharless wrote:i hope they don't get rid of the plugin all together. jeece! i've been thinking about considering buying this one.

I just called cancelled my order. I'm gonna wait a little bit and see how these rumours settle out. The sales guy wasn't too happy. Oh well.

Why not pick up the Stealth Plug http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1493A3ntar wrote:Oh, that makes sens. All right, thanks for the clarifications.Lunch Money wrote:Now I see what's happening. You're mixing up two rumours here--
It's the DONGLE that those people are speculating as being dropped. Not the entire plug-in.
Dropping the dongle is a rumour I HAVE heard (by the same person in the NI forum and at Line6...) but dropping the entire plug-in is not one I've heard.
You know what. If AT2 drops the dongle I will be the first one to purchase that version instead of buyint the StealthPlug just to get Amplitube 2 live.
and then get the AmpliTube 2 Upgrade http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1346
which just so happens to be just about the price of the regular AmpliTube 2 (non upgrade version... keep in mind the upgrade version and regular are EXACTLY the same, just one needs a previous registration of LIVE or LE to qualify for the discount). You end up getting a Stealth Plug AND the loops and extra software that come with it for practically FREE!
You can choose to pick up the AmpliTube 2 upgrade later when it is dongless.... btw, YES it will be dongless. No more dongle! Sans dongle. Dongle no mo! Asta la vista baby! Ciao bella! Bye bye dongle hello free USB ports! WE WON!!!!! I rallied on your behalf to rid ourselves of dongles on IK products and just to let you know that companies DO listen it is going to be done.
Hope you're happy! You know that means there will be a full working timed out AmpliTube 2 and Ampeg SVX downloadable demo coming as well... it's time to get it!
If you do, please get it from www.esoundz.com You know I put in a lot of effort in these threads and customer/company communication (all on my own, no one pays me to do that) and even though I am affiliated all over the place with different companies, on KVR the Squids is sponsored by www.esoundz.com (and brought to you by the letter S). We appreciate your support and letting me plug esoundz when it is relevant. Ask anyone about our customer service. It is rated very high by our customers, many of which are KVRians.

Well, no need to cancel orders. The good news is that registered users of AmpliTube 2 with the dongle will be able to download the next dongless version for free anyway. Oh yeah, also good news for Universal Binary! Free update for that as well! I always fight for that. Last time when there was an OSX upgrade price I was against it... even though I understand that it is extra development costs that need to be recouped. So does Universal Binary (you can thank companies for making new formats to support all the time! haha). However, it is my belief that the good will you generate by making the upgrade to the new format free as well as doing things like getting rid of dongles so more people can try out demos etc. makes up for it in a different way. I guess we'll see if I was right! (woops, Squids credibility on the line... but you know I am right come on. You ARE the customer! Don't you agree with me? Free goes a long way.).Cap'n Spanky wrote:I just called cancelled my order. I'm gonna wait a little bit and see how these rumours settle out. The sales guy wasn't too happy. Oh well.
But, anyway, there's no reason to wait to get AmpliTube 2 for this. Just to let you know. You'll be fine if you get it now and then download the update later when it is dongless. Have no fear.

Thanks for jumping in and setting the record straight! I'll reinstate my order.
I tried the demo of AT2 and I have to say that it is a fine piece of coding! I did not really care for version 1, but 2 is excellent!
I hope IK continues to develop and improve it, because it is really something special. Getting rid of the dongle is an excellent idea and should help sales.
I know I'll hype it up.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I use it all the time now. In fact, it is so good that I've even stopped miking up amps for most projects these days. Not that I wouldn't do it still but it is just convenient and powerful to use AmpliTube and the animated harmonics make it much better for digital processing than anything I've had before, including AT1 (which I did like but for sure AT2 is much better and better than most of the other products of its kind, at least in terms of the sound).
I really love the AC30 and the Tube Screamer combination lately. A real fat sound. Also the Echo Man (model of the Memory Man) is the ultimate "Radiohead/Kind Crimson" delay!!!! You can really throw that thing! It is trippy and liquidy like the real analog deal. Having the CE-1 pedal in software is nice even though I have it on the UAD too (but I can't use the UAD on all of my computers so AT2 saves the day on a fat chorus).
I learn new things about AT2 every time I use it. It's such a toolbox of great stuff!

I'm guessing you meant dongleless, as hearing about an amp plugin being dongless makes me think it has no balls.Squids wrote:

That is good news. What will the C/P be then? I don't mind C/R myself. When will I be able to download a dongle-less demo?

Even though I've got a Podxt Pro and NI GR2, I had written off amp sims. I assumed the quality was not comparable to the real thing. But after hearing some clips and then demo-ing AT2, I now wonder if it is good enough to be a suitable replacement for micing an amp. At least good enough for my little home studio. I'm just about convinced. Convinced enough to buy it.Squids wrote:Thanks guys. Yeah, I use it all the time now. Wow. They repealled the dongle. I'm speechless.
Now if we could just get a Steinberg and Waves representative on our side...
