That's fab Dave!
From comments made a few years ago, I do wonder if they'll be playing Slippermen, given that it's been named a contributory factor in Phils diminished hearing in his left ear!
I'd love to go, not sure if I'll be able to - I'll see how my finances are on Nov24... Do you get a backstage pass, Dave?

Wow! And they say KVR is a bunch of losers!
Congrats, Squids. And I'll try not to hate you for seeing Tony Levin and Porcupine Tree at the same gig. And for hanging out with Jerry Morotta. And Genesis....

Thanks. Yes, backstage passes definitely although I don't know if they are playing down here or not. But, I'd go to New York or LA to see them play.
Oh speaking of all this stuff... if you are going to be in LA (Anaheim) for Winter NAMM we are actually doing an SR booth that is three times the size of last year and we'll have Studio ProFile artists jamming in there with quite a few surprise guests! It's going to be fun.

I know you can't reveal the setlist. But can you reveal if they'll be doing any prog stuff (other than in a medley).
And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

It's not my place to reveal anything they don't want to reveal themselves. I am sure there's an element of surprise they'd want to keep when you go to the show. There definitely was some nice surprises when I was watching them play! Songs that I liked a whole heck of a lot if that tells you anything. But, I believe they said themselves in their press conference that they will be playing songs from each album... I don't know about each and EVERY album but yes definitely you can expect some classic 70's prog in there for sure. However, I think they've always done select tunes from that era in all of their shows.Kim Olesen wrote:I know you can't reveal the setlist. One thing I CAN tell you is that they won't be playing "Return of the Giant Hogweed". Haha. But, that would be funny if they did!

SR is just the states but IK is worldwide so I will mention it. IK may need a new rep for UK actually. Skills on keys, guitars and public speaking plus some sales chops are what are needed there... a lot of travel too. Send me your CV. dave@sonicreality.com and I will pass it on.duncanparsons wrote:Dave, if your looking for a promoter UK side, I'm possibly looking for work come the new year (when the current contract I have looks like it will be finishing)..
Just thought I'd drop that in, since you asked... I couldn't relocate stateside, but if you need a hand with UK, do drop a line.

Talk about a pre-order!
Hey, other Genesis-related news... I am collaborating with Simon Collins on a cover of a Genesis song from the Abacab era. We're also working on some of his songs that could be on his next album. He already let the cat out of the bag in an interview with "Dusk" so... I might as well share this cool bit of info with you!

Hi Squids.
I found this thread after following a link from the Nick Davis section of the Genesis forum - very interesting indeed. I've just done a session with Nick D'Virgilio in England and he mentioned that one of his friends had been working with Genesis and had sat in on some of the sessions. I assume that was you?
I'm a huge Genesis fan and was just wondering if Tony has got some Mellotron sounds as part of his set-up? The Mellotron-type sounds he used on later tours were nowhere near as good as the latest samples are. It would be great to hear those vintage sounds again in the context of the older Genesis material.
Best wishes
Greg
