After all all you need is good sounds and skills. I think also that props won't leave it there and next upgrade will put final nail to all that soundquality shit.
wouldnt suprise me if they discontinue it instead of re-writing it...If they wanted to add things or make it sound better they could afford to do it. It sounds like shit, but a lot of classic equipment do - i think they are up for a hardware hybrid or something - maybe in companion with clavia or something

Fat of the Land was made with Cubase and all classic outboard available

So much FotL hate, wow. I'd say it was their best album, followed by Jilted, and AONO close behind.

I think you're reading it wrong. Most think 'Fat of the Land' is classic
it's the latest one that's pretty much a let-down.

While I loved FOTL at the time, it's just incredbly embarrassing to listen to now. Imo, Experience is their best work, followed by Jilted...

"Smack My Bitch Up", "Mindfields", "Narayan", and "Serial Thrilla" are embarassing? I don't see how. Brilliant sound design, huge beats, high production values, catchy riffs. Experience was filled with shamelessly ripped samples, generic loops, cliches, and massively irritating repetition. I can't stand it.

Hello soulbrother - same thought here!
I saw them live early 90s and i was a huuughe fan. I was quite disappointed when they changed their style for which I admired them for.
IMO 'The Fat of the Land' doesn't come close innovative wise to 'Experience' and 'Music for the jilted Generation' - in fact you can't compare those, the music styles are too different. I think Liam Hawlett panicked after having hughe success with the first two albums and didn't want to repeat himself in doing similar music with the same equipment - which was a bad decision...

Fat of the Land was probably the bands bigger commercial success. In my opinion the top of them all, Liam got his feel for writing his own style of pop. I love it when an artist does that.

No, you're just not reading what I wrote: It wasn't an attack, don't turn it into one.

Well, Liam wasnt playing live at all...He didnt even connect his equipment, some of his rig was actually empty dummy synths!

These days they use backing CD's live. They used DATs in the '90's

Er... no... that's a straight up lie if I ever read one.
I read that he WROTE most of it in Reason, but used his MS20 for alot of the recording. Apparently he used this wacky distortion rack unit, but I forget the name.

Mixed on a Mackie, but with some high end compressors and stuff.

All according to article I read.
