Do you think it will be possible to upgrade from Tracktion 2 (download) to Tracktion 3 (boxed)?

The main difference between GB and Tracktion is: if a GB user wants to get serious he has to buy Logic... if a Tracktion user wants to get serious he just has to buy my video

A very good video it is too. So many little tips and tricks that I had no idea about.

But will we get a discount on the T3 video if we buy the T2 video now? (:

Who said there was a T3 video?
Anyway... assuming there is / will be a T3 video, it is likely to include all the little things I forgot to mention in the first one as well as the new T3 features, and will probably be quite a bit longer.
Chris would be the man to talk to about a discount anyway, not my department.

I believe (and I could very well be wrong) that Mackie did just what you're suggesting when T2 was released. There's almost always a grace period of some kind for DAW software.semiquaver wrote:Lunch - you're missing Notdeafyet's point. His point is that 1 - he wants to buy T2 BUT until he hears about the cost of the upgrade he can't make a rational calculation about buying now or waiting and buying T3. So he will wait.
This is why Ableton for example has a free upgrade period before each new release - so that sales are not defered and possibly lost.
Mackie don't have to commit to a date in order to let folks know that there will be a discounted upgrade price for folks buying after a certain date etc etc. Note to Mackie's marketing department - you might want to do a quick study of software marketing practices now that Mackie has a software portfolio.

I understood, semiquaver, it's just that I don't see Mackie being at that point right now. A grace period is offered when there's at least a reasonable target date. They might not have such a thing yet. It's reasonable to expect it to all get rolled out at the same time-- grace period, upgrade pricing, new box pricing, etc.

At the point that you are previewing your product and presumably hoping to create buzz you may as well have a policy in place that lets you make sales now. Its no skin of my nose as I am already a happy T2 owner - but I'd love those folks on the fence to be able to go ahead and buy T2 with confidence on the more the merrier principle...

I guess we're just on very slightly different sides of the issue. I, too, would love people to buy with confidence. But I don't think that an announcement of grandfathering is required, because their investment is still protected in terms of there BEING an upgrade path. AND, they'll get several months' use out of T2 in the meanwhile. So, I say no time like the present to jump in.

That's just typical though, isn't it? We not only have to wait for T3, we have to wait for the T3 video too.IIRs wrote:Anyway... assuming there will be a T3 video, it is likely to include all the little things I forgot to mention in the first one as well as the new T3 features, and will probably be quite a bit longer.
And given we don't even know when T3 is due, that means the video must be at least 6 months later, till the video people get up to speed with it. Why don't Mackie at least provide a manual that covers the fundamentals, i mean, for padraig's sake etc.
