I've rolled back to 2.0 till this gets figured out.

Dan
I got the same problem in Sonar 6. Let me know if anyone solves this problem.
don't know if this is the same problem but I've posted a workaround that worked for me in the Sonic Reality-Forum, I repost it here:
I also had Sonar 6 crashing when loading old tunes that use AT2. However what seems to work, is to load the song with shift pressed, so that Sonar asks for each plugin to be loaded, then load all but AT2, insert (a) new AT2 instance(s) and resave the song. After that it loads and plays fine again on my system. Maybe worth giving it a try...
Only problem with this is that if I didn't save the preset or remember which one it is, then getting the exact same sound will not work.

By the way A3ntar you should be proud starting a thread with 160,000+ views and 300 pages. Where is in the KVR stats I wonder.
LOL, although I started the thread, the rest of it was a team effort!
A bit unfair because the number 1 threads are at least 1 year older than this thread, but hey, we will take a second position anytime :)

Squids, have you, or IKMM given a dedicated (not a forum, but only tones exchange) tones exchange website a thought? Exactly like Line6's custom tone (http://line6.com/customtone/)

Simple one click upload and donwload. I forsee it being very popular.
Yeah probably. I am making all kinds of suggestions for an IK forum, how it will be organized (probably by product so you'll have an AmpliTube forum and a SampleTank forum etc.) But if there is a way to have patch uploading I think that would be great. If not we'll definitely be doing things like this on www.esoundz.com next year for all kinds of products (even patches for Arturia synths and things like that).

I gave the demo a spin for about half an hour.. I was about to give up, as the high gain just wasn't there, but then I found a preset that called out to me (Evil Nessie or something like that, some weird effect thing.) Well, I pulled out the fuzz, tamed the pitch shifter, and threw on the tube screamer, and dialed in a very nice high gain sound.

squids, Amplitube 2 does need some more high gain presets, badly. Some people are looking for sounds like that, and won't find it in the presets that come in the demo. Creating that sound pushed me from "eh, the POD sounds way better" to "hmm, I might have to get this". We'll see what the next 9 days give me.
Remember the iLokalypse Summer 2013

Samples and presets and free stuff!

Slightly OT but anybody know if there is any plan for SVX going dongeless? Might make me reconsider getting it (esp with paypal's $20 off $50 coming up)...

Post

chrisby, I heard that ALL IKMM products are going dongle-less.

Post

Squids, have you read my second review, and if so, what do you think about the issues raised?

Post

That's good news... just hope it's sooner rather than later. I've read great reviews on SVX but hardly any actual user comments (though the ones I have seen were positive). I was one waiting to try the Amplitube dongle before passing judgement but have to admit it turned out to be a pain for a variety of reasons. Kinda kept me from even considering a second dongled app...

ouhh!didnt know they abandonned the dongle, might delay the kaoss pad 3 to get this one instead... just Dl'ed demo, will start my demo run as soon as I have at least 2 days off to enjoy, otherwise i'll install, test if it works(starting the 10 days) and then just find time to use it in 2 weeks(expired :(), butt i soooo want it to be as good as it's benn told, so I can finally enjoy plugging a guitar in my computer as much as i do with my ProJr.

Well, new presets can always be made... both by users and the company that makes the product.

Could someone that gets a convincing high gain tone from AT 2 post the preset here with mp3 demos, so those interested decide when they start their evaluation period ? (That would prevent us from wasting too much time on struggling with the presets in the high gain department)

I think it would be nice to have more mic positions... but then it would be nice to have a lot of things! Maybe there will be in the future. For now though I just use the on axis most of the time and I am happy to be able to switch mic models.

Drag and drop for stomp fx? Eh. For me it is fine how it is. I am just happy that I can freely configure their order as opposed to AT1 where you couldn't.

Presets? I already said I think the presets are great but since each person's opinions are different then I think having tons of presets which will happen over time will solve this.

About Hi Gain sounds, I think AT2 is actually the best sim for this that I've heard (mainly because of DSM) but whether it has enough presets to show that... clearly it doesn't based on what some of you have been saying. So I agree there should be more and probably will be!

Stand alone midi control... perhaps there will be more in updates. I know that there's a lot of concentrated development spent on the Stomp IO for this (and more control than anything has offered in a software/hardware combination). So, I am sure that is the top priority at the moment. Still... UB, Standalone, Speedtrainer, dongless as a free update isn't too bad!

Oh, I don't think Speedtrainer sounds bad but remember it depends on what you put into it. It could sound different depending on what it is... it's main purpose when stretching though is for practicing and hearing the notes slowed down. I've seen it do that rather well!

Remember that they are also just amps! It's best to tweak the sound to YOUR guitar anyway if you want to get the sound you are looking for. A preset won't sound the same for everyone because each person's guitar level, timbre and playing will be different. If there's a sound you are after then go for it!

That isn't against anyone filling your request... presets are welcome I am sure! But, just something else to do in the meantime. A preset may not even be the answer.

Post

Well you're right Squids, a single preset won't be the definitive answer, but will at least give a direction. If people could share some presets of their findings in this thread, it would make for a nice optimization of the evaluation time. 10 days is a short period when you have nothing but busy weeks, but I'm sure you know that all too well ;)

I gotta tell ya, it's really not that hard to dial in a decent high gain tone with this product. Modern high gain pre, modern tube lead EQ, 100w 6l6 amp (or El34, they both sound good). Use your bridge humbucker, adjust the input knob on amplitube to bring your guitar signal up if needed. viola.

You can always add an overdrive stomp in front of the amp if you want a little more drive. And an EQ in the rack section is cool to tweak it to taste. I prefer a dry sound, but you can add delay and reverb in either the rack or stomp section. And of course the amp has a reverb too.

It took me all of five minutes to figure it out.

you shouldn't have droped the dongle. It's by far the best method of registering something, well aside a simple serial or key file.
I installed 2.0 on two different putes using the same registration, to install this one i had to waste a license.
I update my putes, sometimes more than once a year, i'm very disgruntled with this shift of IK registration policy.
