TRIAC,you asked about stereosamples of the cymbals. well, i mic'ed them real close so you can place them in the stereo field like you want to. Or did I miss something (maybe a sort of flanging or phasing effect)?! Wpould like to know about this!

Well, in that case, there would be lots of ambience on the cymbals. I started with this sampling project, because, I need dry samples of my kit to replace or add sounds of my own drum recordings. That's why I never thought about that "overhead recording situation"

I honnestly think that dry sampling is the best way to do it. It keeps them neutral.
Don't forget that some Vsti only allow mono samples...

Did you processed them with EQ and compression?
the snares are too short:( the ambient of your room is disappearing too soon
