Hehehe, I just got a patch from that pro patch designer whom I hired for a bank of playable presets... he recreated that patch from a Moog Voyager and says that it captures the sound better than any other VSTi (including the Minimoog clones) :D

Hope I can send that bank to you guys soon 8)

;) Urs
sounds cool!!!!

doesn't surprise me that he said that by the way ;)

Unempty's Thrift Store Gem

Listen to a quick mp3 demo

It can go from warm to squelchy, to noisy and annoyingly dirty. It might even have some cold-soldered joints in it. But you got it cheap at the thrift store, so there's no complaining. Hope you like it.

Enjoy,

Hey I really like this patch.

A small variety of high-quality patches for tha' clubs.

Now hopefully someone will make a few more in order to completely replace Vanguard. :hihi:

Enjoy!
Thank you! I would love to make more over time. I really am not a fan of Vanguard's banks.

Very cool! The Vger Bass sounds are unbelievably useful. Would have been cool to have more trancey stuff (and electronic) but I'm very thankful nonetheless.

I'm so impressed with the quality of Howard's presets, I think I'll order some more with focus on *phat* instead of classic analogue...

That would be cool. I need to spend more time working with tuning and panning to create really "phat" sounds.

This is an example of a patch I created on another synth (there's a "guess the synth" thread in the instrument forum, I don't want to give it away just yet). It took me about 5 minutes. The patch consists of 2 saw oscs fine tuned from eachother, with unison + unison spread, delay, and chorus. They run through a 24LP filter with mild saturation. Then I took that whole synth patch and duplicated it, and tuned the entirety of the two patches away from eachother (w/ slight panning differences as well) and then put some 'verb on top.

The result is really cool. I'm working on something like this for Z2.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

This is an updated and expanded version of the first batch of presets I made. There are 15 presets total, tweaked to be at very usable volume levels, and very useful for electronic dance music! They are as follows.

Bright PWM Pad - A powerful, in-your-face pad that is a staple of trance intros and outtros. Try EQing the highs down or switching the filter into a lowpass to create useful variations.

DistoLead - A bright, distorted, and cutting lead sound perfect for a harder dance track. Sounds a little FM in nature, so if you plan on doing any remixes of Sega Genesis music... try this patch!

Dream Trance Pluck - This is a filtered "superpulse" patch layered with a soft pad to create a dreamy sound that is great for a breakdown or an intro. Change the filter cutoff to turn into a lead!

Heaven Soft Pluck - A subtle and subdued harp-style sound that is begging to be played in some arpeggios. EQ the low end down a bit if you want it to fit in the mix more.

Majestic FM Pad - A very large, FM-based pad that is not unlike "Bright PWM Pad". If you're into a darker and more forboding sound for your song, perhaps for psytrance, try it out.

Morph Lead - Everyone loves a simple saw lead! This preset is just a little variation on that by adding some motion to the sound. Rock out some synth solos. You know you want to.

PHD Square Bass - An emulation of the opening synth in The Crystal Method's trip hop/big beat song "PHD". Play it low and turn up your sub. Perfect for breakbeat and related genres.

Simple Soft Pad - A highly flexible, smooth, and warm pad sound suitable for virtually anything. Ideal for the generic "classic pad" kind of sound.. EQ down the lows a bit to make it fit better.

Sinister Poly PWM - Another harsh and dark patch. Use it as a polysynth, bass, or a really messed up pad. OSC3 is the subosc, so mess with that if you want to make it a little more subtle.

Stereo Beast Bass - A simple, but powerful, square-based bass sound that is VERY wide. Speaks for itself. ;)

Supersaw 1 - OK, you knew this was coming. *The* Supersaw sound, the bread and butter of any epic, anthem, uplifting, melodic, or WHATEVER genre of trance. Use the X/Y control to affect subosc and filter cutoff.

Supersaw 2 - Same concept as the above preset, but with a somewhat different timbre.

Supersaw Pad - As you might imagine, it's a pad composed of supersaws! Surprising, eh? Change filter cutoff using the X/Y controller.

Trance Sweeper - A pad/poly patch that sweeps 'down' from a thick texture. Very useful for breakdowns or build-ups.

Triangular Pad (lowcpu) - Using just a single osc, it can't get much more basic than this. It is, however, useful for when you need a warm pad sound and even "Simple Soft Pad" is too CPU-heavy.

ENJOY!

Thanks for the patches!

(And I don't even do tarnce/dance - until now maybe - I'll be dancin' for Christmas).

ENJOY!
I really appreciate the community around this product and just wanted to thank you (and of course Urs) for the holiday presets!

(btw, I liked your little trance melody, made me feel like I was playing a side scroller shooter on the super nintendo back in the day :D)

Looking very good here. I'll try to contain my enthusiasm -- but suffice to say I like what I hear, and hope you keep more trickling down the pipeline!

Just put a small pack with 4 presets up here: http://vibrants.scene.org/Metal_4_Zebra2Presets.zip

There's 3 fat monster bass-presets in there along with a spacy lead type. I used one of the basses in this remix (+ some of the Howard Scarr xmas-set): http://vibrants.scene.org/cosmic_sandwi ... remix).mp3

Cheers.

Thanks, Metal (squelchy and groovy!). BTW: That file name is corrupted by the forum software - I think it doesn't like round brackets...
