Hi guys. This is my first post in this thread. Just want to mention a couple things about Oatmeal. First off, I love it! So far I'm on sound bank #12 of presets I've done for it (getting a little carried away I know). Like everyone else says - the Random button is fantastic. It's addictive actually I think lol. Eventually I'm going to take the best presets I've got and narrow it down to a couple of really awesome sound banks - and then release them.
I haven't had time to read all 88 pages in this thread, so I don't know if this has been mentioned before or not. I'm using Buzz as my host program (for the time being anyway), and in using Oatmeal as much as I have, I think I've uncovered a bug. Every now and then it locks-up after I press the Random button, and Buzz becomes totally unresponsive. I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL and stop Buzz. To clarify just a bit more... so far all the presets I've done have been using the Random feature, and I've done more than you can imagine. When I press the button it changes color as though it has been pressed and at that point it freezes. The button stays that color but the preset doesn't change and Buzz locks-up. If I remember correctly, the sound loops as well. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it have something to do with the occassional pop-up questions in Oatmeal? I know Buzz crashes fairly regularly but it seems like this is more to do with Oatmeal than Buzz. Oh yeah, I've been using version 37-2. Is there a chance this was fixed in version 37-3?
One last thing. I'd really like it if the Random function could do entire sound banks at once, like the Astrobelt VST is able to do. Would it be possible to add this feature in a new version?
Finally, thanks go to Fuzzpile for sharing this impressive VST with us.

I just got the newest version awhile ago since I learned that Nolwenn made 2 banks for it. I am using it w/ Minhost and Sonar 3 and it's been giving me audio pops and crackles, especially w/ Minihost. Anybody else get this? I know I should have looked at the entire thread but it is quite long and in the last few pages there's not a peep about this. Oh, and let me just take this opportunity to swoon over the talents of Nolwenn - She rocks!

Her bank 1 showed me the true nature of Oatmeal, stunning synth.
I have one minor issue with Oatmeal. I use it wrapped inside energyXT VST (to get it obey MIDI), and I have it docked on it's own eXT VST page. Now when I open eXT VST, Oatmeal's GUI update is "locked" until I flip the dock page once. Oatmeal reacts to changes even via the GUI, but the screen is not updated.
Nothing as bad as audio crackles, but strange.

Well I'm a bit late on the band wagon and I'm not that great with synths but I must say I wasn't aware of how much hidden ability this synth had. It's great.
I, like others, are glad to see you (Fuzzpilz) over in VST land. But fer Christ's sake, convert over the UnwieldyDist Buzz plugin! I emailed you about Buzz's distortion plugins but you never responded, I figured you didn't want to be hassled but since the forum is open and all that, I should've said it here. Either that or give me the audio processing code for it and I'll make a VST from it (somehow)! The DC offset the plugin causes (due partly if not wholly to being able to change distortion for the upper and lower halves of a waveform) doesn't bother me; this is the digital distortion machine I want to be using! :)

There's a couple of Buzz-pilz I'd like to see in VST as well. The Oppressor, Chorpse (although we already have Charsieisis), Pottwal and Drink might be interesting as well along th lines of DtBlFx, which was from Buzz too.

... search for some "How to"'s. It's easy to get plucked sounds using noise + short decay.

Is there an easier way to set the arp than to just know the freq of the notes you want? Is there a way to make it 'snap' to the values of notes?

The arp works in semitones relative to the root note you play, not in frequency?
12 semitones = octave

ooooh. I just glanced at it and decided i didn't get it. I'll check that out later, then.
Really that IS the most logical thing to think, i don't even know what i was thinking, heh.

I'm liking this synth!
I am still learning synths and I like this one because it gives the values in the status bar (and it spits out interesting sounds at the touch of a button). I have a question though. I can't figure out how to make the LFO modulate amplitude..or can you?

Oatmeal is my main synthesizer and the GUI is my favorite of all plugins TBO...
Far more than mediocre. Oatmeal is god imho.

It's still not too easy to get to a Semitone excactly in the arp though, is it? i'd prefer it to snap to ST's automatically when not using any modifier-keys, and when using shift and ctrl it should be more sensitive.
edit:
whoiskeel: I haven't really gotten into that too much yet, but it seems the lfo's only do filters. Have you tried the modulation matrix thing? you can set it to what you want, and have it orbit the x/y-cursor
