As a proud registered owner of both Zebra2 and Filterscape, I thought I'd try out MFM. I like it and will likely register it, however, one thing. When Logic runs the au validation it doesn't pass. If I manually enable the plug in auVal, then it shows up in Logic, not in the u-he category but a new category called "incompatible". Well, not to be put off by such insolence, I loaded it up anyway and it appears to work just fine.

So, there seems to be a problem but not a too serious one. Hopefully MFM2 is around the corner and will address this silliness. Perhaps Logic is just a bit too picky about what it likes to consider "compatible"?

This is an oldish plug from before L7 I think - a brand new version is imminent...

I have no idea what might have changed in L7...

I'd say... wait for MFM2...

(If I hadn't got a Moog recently to do some research on filters for Zebra & Filterscape, MFM2 would already be out there...)

I have no problems installing, loading and running MFM 1.0.1 AU using Logic Pro 7.2.1 on my dual-core Power Mac G5 2.0 with OS X 10.4.8.

It comes with 100 presets, so I don't have to find out all the tricks by myself - and I can save certain sounds for testing...

Some presets are really intrigueing... wouldn't have expected that. But in respect of the overall sound... hmmm... while Oscillator Sync can still not be beaten by software, the myth of the filters just fell apart in front of my ears. Especially routing Osc2 on Cutoff (FilterFM) was revealing. Despite its underwhelmingly small depth, it's too gritty to be usable. And of course you couldn't even get those Oxygene2 blubbers.

It was very satisfying to see that more than a year of research (a couple of hours every other week) for a filter with analogish properties yielded in something that not only captures the real deal quite well, but also exceeds it in many ways (usable FilterFM, higher Resonance, more control over distortion, more filter types, stereo operation) - while I finally managed to get cpu load down to acceptable levels. I just have to rewrite the whole SSE code in AltiVec to make it available for pre-Intel Macs

Sounds promising!

I agree with you on the Osc Sync, I've never found anything in software that's as meaty as my old Moog Prodigy's Osc Sync - I wish someone would do an analysis of what's going on there and build a DSP version of that, it's the nastiest, ripping-est sync I've ever heard
