Somethings I would like to see (both for SS2 & ST2.1):Squids wrote:

1. A way to 'lock' the parameters of a patch, so you could select a different sound in the browser, yet retain all of the settings of the current sound. This would let you browse through the waveforms, like on a regular synth, without all the parameters changing. There are times where I would like to keep everything the same except for the sample that is being played, but as far as I know, you can't do that.
2. A way to link the parameters of one sound to one or more other sounds. Especially if you can select groups of them (all filter parameters, all envelopes, etc.). In programming a sound with 2 detuned sawtooth waves, for example, you often want all the parameters on both voices except for the tuning to be the same. Right now, you have to do a lot of bouncing around between the two voices to get the settings the same. It would be nice to detune the voices, then be able to adjust the envelopes, filters, & lfos on one voice, & have the other change along with it. It would sure make programming go a lot faster. And I don't have as much time as I would like for music making as it is.
At any rate, all the IK/SR products I have or have demoed are excellent. Keep up the great work!

Since this thread is already in progress, I'll use the opportunity to bump and add to it...

Squids,
It's mentioned on the above webpage that UB support for "Sonik Synth 2" is tentatively slated for introduction in March, 2007. Uhmm...it's March. Of 2007, no less. OK, we're not even halfway through it, but... Any idea if the suggested timeline is going to hold? Hope so.
Also, since others have asked previously in this thread, what other modifications/updates to "SS2" can we expect?
Thanks,
Jerod

Yes, UB support and possibly stand alone will be coming soon... should be this month but at worste next month I think.
As for any other updates... nothing announced yet. We're always working on stuff though and we do have something special in mind that will appeal to Sonik Synth users.

When can you let us know what the 'something special' is? I'd be the first to admit that I still haven't gone through all the presets in SS2, but the 'back panel' on the plug-in has an area labeled expansion slots. Will there possibly be more sounds available one of these days?Squids wrote:Yes, UB support and possibly stand alone will be coming soon... should be this month but at worste next month I think.

Considering the original quote was March 06 this was a valid question. Hard to believe it's been so long.Squids wrote:It rhymes with Ooo house and heavendgkenney wrote:Any hint on which yearSquids wrote: There is a major update in the works. It would be nice to have an update that incorporates the new features that were added to the Sampletank engine at 2.1 quite some time ago now. I'd especially like to have proper scrollwheel support for example as it's tedious to browse through. I wouldn't want the next update that incorporates these features to end up being a big 3.0 update that would be paid for even if it did have lots of other nice stuff.

Made a few changes to it so it could come out sooner than later. Put some money aside and keep your eye out for more news.K-Slash wrote:Yeah what's up about Studiophonik ?
Sonik Synth 2 will have this free update and then a little later we'll see what happens next... could be good! There's also a few surprises coming and I know a few people who will be very happy with them... quite a few... especially some KVRians.
I wish I could tell you guys, I really do. For once I am keeping some secrets though because it will be that much more fun when you find out what we're going to release... yes, release not just announce.

I have a supplemental, semi-related question re: "SS2"...
I understand that "SS2" sounds can be loaded and used in "ST2" (L or XL). Is this modus operandi still viable if one is running the UB version of "ST2", as the UB update for "SS2" is not yet available? (Total noob-style question, I know, but the fact is that in a general sense I only know enough about the in-depth functioning of computers to pose a real danger to the computer I'm using at any given time.
)
Thanks,
Jerod

UB = "Universal Binary". It's the way many (most?) programs for Mac are built now - the binary has compiled code for both older PPC-based Mac's and also Intel-Mac's. I imagine they could also offer separate binaries for both PPC and Intel-Mac's as an alternative.harmony gardens wrote:I feel stupid asking, but what is UB? Why would it's introduction nix ST LE??
ST2LE is not (for whatever reason) going to be offered in UB or another Intel-Mac compatible format, so if you have one of the newer Intel-Mac's, you're out of luck. The PPC Mac's (G5's for example) can still run ST2LE.
However, ST2LE is not alone, as NI Kompakt, Intakt and Kompakt/Kontakt1 players for various libraries are not being ported to UB either. People wanting to use these libraries on Intel-Mac's have to upgrade Kontakt2, a much bigger ticket than ST2 is (and no Squids or epointz, either). This is why EastWest has built their own player (ew Pace!) and some other sample developers were looking for coders as well.
