For me, my top targets would be: OSC/FMO/Comb/Filter Freqs and AMP Levels.
BTW - Is this why you won't give Z2 an audio input, or is it cause you're evil?

I thought his answer was that the VST spec is pretty compromised when it comes to accepting audio inputs/dissatisfaction with the available work-arounds (such as having a seperate FX plug.)
As well as the hope that Steinberg was going to rectify said deficiencies.
So in other words, yes--evil.

Well the VST spec doesn't say anything against audio in for synths - they just don't do it! They just f'ing don't do it! As they don't do proper side chaining or whatever trivial concepts of the analogue age.Notron User wrote:I thought his answer was that the VST spec is pretty compromised when it comes to accepting audio inputs/dissatisfaction with the available work-arounds (such as having a seperate FX plug.)

But right, I hate having to add a pseudo-effects workaround - it 'd cripple all the nice goodies of resource sharing among instances and *preset compatibility* (and of course it puts the work on the hundreds of plugin developer's side, not the side of a handful of host developers out there). I hate that as much as I'd hate to say "yes, it has audio in, but it only works with Logic, Live, Metro and Bidule, and of course only on the Mac. Please hassle your host developer to get audio input!" (That's just an example, it might also work in eXT, dunno)
I think this concept just hasn't leaked through all layers of responsibility. Even though it's been there for ages in the analogue world. Arrrgh. I could start a rant war about it.

The VST3 standard apparently allows for audio in. Not sure if you heard that!

So once again, we all have to suffer for Steinberg's deficiencies...
Where are all the "I don't see the point of AU, VST was perfectly fine as it was" aguees now, then, eh? eh?
I'm not too bothered - I'd *like* to be able to run audio into Z2, it was a nice feature of 1.5 and playing with audio on the grid was cool, but it's not there (yet), so no biggy... we all have plenty of other ways of manipulating audio, so...

Women are evil.
Urs just needs to go to a nice monastery where he could develop plugins and regain his purity of essence.

But have they published the spec for developers to implement? I suspect that's the issue.zircon wrote:The VST3 standard apparently allows for audio in. Not sure if you heard that!
