I find it a telltale that Rene has not responded lately. I while back when I again questioned his ability as a businessman he fired off an angry pm at me. I can't apologize for not being impressed with him as a businessman, I can only go by what I know and see. But I am sorry that he didn't see where I said it wasn't personal, I like the guy and I am sorry he is angry with me.

With that said, after 2 1/2 years I think it's time for him to be upfront and put this subject to bed once and for all. If it's done, release it...if it's not going to be released (whether it because all the flack or it's not as good as he hoped), please Rene step up and put this to rest...it's time Rene, it's time. I honestly would respect you to the hilt if you did...not that I don't respect "Rene" the person, because I do...:)

It's really incredible what a great thread this is.

On a serious note: Meanwhile, I'm enjoying playing with Revalver MkII a lot. I don't believe René's amp will be even halfway as flexible and the Revalver sound examples available by now don't make me think there's much to ask for any longer either.

you must be keeping real busy Sascha, I haven't seen you around much...I assume you're still on the road a lot? Hope you're having fun...:)

Yeah Hink, touring right now (for 7.5 weeks in total, still 5 weeks to go).
Berlin today, Istanbul tomorrow, then Basel - quite some traveling stuff.

I'm not sure whether it's really something to lust after. Seriously.
My days (*all* days) look like:
- Breakfast in hotel.
- Travel for something like 2-4 hours in some rather cheesy bandbus.
- Check into new hotel, roughly 2 hours of time to either walk around a bit or do whatever.
- Soundcheck (15-60 minutes).
- Catering and another 2 hours to hang around at the venue.
- Show until 10.45.
- Drive back to hotel.
- Beers at the hotel bar.

As you can see, there's hardly much time to get stuff done, such as actually putting out my mobile studio stuff and whatever. Internet access usually is expensive (if available at all).
That leaves you with a lot of computer gaming, TV or DVD watching and just hanging around.
Also, not being able to see my GF for 7 weeks isn't exactly a pleasure.

And finally, it's an ABBA cover show. Paid rather well, but it's getting quite boring, I tell you.

But hey, I'm not exactly complaining, it's just not rock'n'roll and it's not exactly that comfortable either.

I gotta say Sascha, that's two things you can do that I couldn't...teach, and play for a living as you do...and I truly admire it in you. I doubt that music is more important to either one of us or more a part of either of our lives...we both have an awful strong commitment to our music and truly to guitar (I know you don't care for my playing, but that has nothing to do with my commitment)...but we sure come at it from two different paths...it might be interesting if we were to meet at a crossroads

Hi Sasha,

Have you had a chance to compare Revalver MkII to AT2? If so, what are your impressions?

TIA!

Sorry, not yet. I still haven't had much time, so I refused to install the AT2 demo so far.
From what I've heard, I like RV better, but it seems to me that AT2 is offering excellent dynamic reaction towards what you put into it. But then, it seems that RV is doing a really great job as well...

After all, at least there's some serious competition right now - even compared to the POD XT (which, so far, a lot of people, including myself, seemed to give most points in terms of dynamics and such). Defenitely a good thing - software amp sims seem to mature quite a bit.

Personally, I still think that I'm gonna build myself a dead box once I find the time, but obviously enough, that's not always a viable solution. Plus, it requires some bucks to be involved.
Oh, btw, talking about dead boxes: Anybody with some schematics for a closed 2x12" speaker enclosure? That's what I'm planning to use. Doesn't need to be any "fat" or so, it's for recording purposes only, but it should sort of get me the optimized action out of some standard 12" speakers.

Thanks, Sascha. :)

Guitar tone is very subjective. Different people are looking for different things.

I have a Pod XT Pro and I actually like AT2 much better. Both in terms of tone and dynamics. I haven't tried Revalver, yet.
