Also the site design is quite old, so we started a brand new design,

1. looks great - a very nice modern design.
2. things I might change: The grey strip at the top makes the page look busy, and I would just say "products" instead of "product range" for simplicity.

If you have a 1280x1024+ screen resolution the overall text is a bit too small for my taste. In Internet Explorer you can't resize it since you used px to define the font size. Maybe use relative size like pt or em instead?
I like the way the site looks much better, the navigation has improved a lot. I would prefer to have the News - Support etc be more vertically centered in that area. I agree with godbox that it looks a little crowded with the top 2 bars, maybe consolidate it a bit or make it more distinct and clear.
