Oh but he is....! I've been there about 6 times, and I've seen three people thrown out (one for talking loud on a cellphone at the bar, one for grabbing a beer from the fridge before being seated, one for attempting to order a "california roll").another one in the neighborhood called Nozawa's, which according to Zagat's, is supposed to be the best Sushi restaurant in all of LA. I've been there a few times and it is indeed very good. The only problem is that you can't pick anything out. The chef makes all the choices for you. I guess this might be the traditional way to serve it maybe. He also often tells you how you should eat it too... "One bite, no soy sauce!" This has led many locals to refer to him as the "Sushi Nazi".

I was at Nozawa when the owner kicked someone out for not appreciating what was served... that was pretty insane.John Vulich wrote:There's a place called Sushi Dan's that I go to often, which I like a lot. nah, your post was not as dumb as you think. think about it, there have to be some idiots there, since some of the people JV says are conceited spoons must live near the studios...
and JV called lots of people spoons (spoons is a generic word used in place of actual references)...

Shibucho on Beverly, just east of downtown, is another great hole-in-the-wall Sushi joint. Same deal -- "omakase" though you are asked if there's anything you won't eat. "Uni" is usually an appropriate response to this.
L.A. is a great Sushi town.

Don't know if it's true, but a friend of mine, that lived here in LA, went to Japan once and said that he had a hard time finding Sushi restaurants there as good as the ones here in LA. He though maybe they just weren't getting as good a quality of fish out of their local waters as we do... find that a bit hard to believe myself actually.Bradster wrote:L.A. is a great Sushi town.
