KOMPAKT vs. KONTAKT

I am in the market for a Receptorized sampler. I can buy KOMPAKT w/DFD for $99 but according the NI website, it is discontinued and KONTAKT 2 is the sucessor product.
I am not going to be making new samples, I just want a simple and reliable Receptorized sampler player to replace my Korg Triton. I have used IK Multimedia Sonik Synth but I found the UI not so inviting.
Should I go with KOMPAKT as a less costly solution or is this a bad move due to its discontinuation?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Todd

Get Kontakt instead. I have Kompakt, and it's really limited compared to Kontakt. It gets the job done, but Kontakt is so much better and it is supported which is "always" a plus.

Kompakt has been a good sampler for me. It's easy to use and doesn't require building your own instruments from samples. However, I have had some difficulty lately with newer instruments that have become available. For instance, I bought two pianos from Sampletekk recently but they are formatted for Kontakt 2 and will not import to Kompakt. Only Kontakt 1 files will import. I have had success importing some gigastudio instruments. My experience is only on PC, I don't use receptor.

Because he wants "a simple and reliable Receptorized sampler player to replace my Korg Triton".
The decision is easy: Kompakt has been discontinued. Get Kontakt.

Quick clarification, I am the user that opened this topic and I DO user Receptor. One of the people that responded to this chain doesn't use it. Anyway, I got my answer - don't buy a discontinued product even if it meets my needs.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Hold up there is one reason why you may still want to invest in Kompakt, and that is the sound library! It is brilliant: Strangely enough it does not come with Kontakt. If you already have a nice sound library then you needn't worry, but it is still worth checking out it is brilliant (did I just say that again). I am still trying to find a simple way of purchasing it. I don't really want to get it from Plugorama as that is a receptor only version but NI have discontinued it.
