Maybe this is more a matter of a picky taste, or a mental throwback to the analog domain, but I kinda of wish that the status display would show (real) units when manipulating controls.

I realize it doesn't affect sound, but it does make it alot easier to remember, and replicate from/to other devices. A 0..150 filter cutoff frequency doesn't have a real-world correlation, and it's not clear wether it's a linear scale or not. Envelope times are harder to set when they're not defined in actual fractional seconds. Modulation should measure from 0..1 (instead of 0..100) to make planning modulations out in your head easier (it's a great hobby, try it), particularly when using MMixers.

etc etc, you get the point.

I just think it would be a sweet usability addition/change in Zebra and bring it closer to the user's brain.

Uhm, many numbers indeed have units...

Cutoffs correspond to Midi Note Number, i.e. 69 should be 440Hz (or maybe one octave below, would have to check that out)

Gains correspond to dB, except for the hundreds of Vol knobs which are scaled linearly in order to save cpu.

However, this is supposedly my last post before taking off... we'll see us here next week or so, if I can discover a hotspot somewhere!

by all means keep saving the cpu at the expense of having non 'real' units. i don't mind tweaking the knobs till they sound right

Hey, that's cool! I had no idea, and now I have one.

Maybe the status window should show what unit is being used somehow.

I still think it'd be nice if frequencies were shown either as note names (C0..B8 and such) or in Hz. Both at once, even, showing note names when on "integer" values. If you do fine adjustments, it switches to Hz, indicating it's no longer on an exact fundamental. Just a thought.

How about env times though? Are they in 10th of seconds right now?
