I installed the V-Station and Bass Station (since they were said to work...)on my Receptor (Rev.C, 2Gb Ram)

Sometimes, the plugins just load normally and work well... for a moment. Then suddenly the Receptor restarts or freezes.

The same happened to me with the 4front Rhodes plugin...

At first I thought it was a hardware problem, but all the other plugins seem to work fine. Of course I haven't tried them all yet in every situation, but the ones I used were ok.

Any suggestion?

Hi Demierra,

Take a look at this thread.

Typically when Receptor restarts, it is equivalent to a program error (like a 'bus error' or such) that might occur from a number of reasons. One of these reasons might be that the plug requires a 'dll' that it can't find - that's where this thread helps.

I've also had restarts when other conditions have happened. For example, I was using a plug that was updated, and it was not backward-compatible with previous versions of its own patches - so trying to load the previous versions would (un-gracefully) cause a program to crash.

Anyway, hope your problem is as simple as a missing DLL.

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll try to have a look at that in more details. I just don't really know what kind of missing .dll it could be...

For the moment, I just keep the plugins installed on the machine, but I avoid using them... until I find a solution.

I'll update this thread if I find a solution...

one last thing ...

You might wish to track down whoever qualified the respective plugs as working 'unsupported'. Start by looking for the authors that reported this on the thread 'unsupported plugins that work'. I have often gone back and PM'd an author to get additional help on getting various unsupported plugs up and running.

One of the best things about a community (like this) is that often others are willing to contribute and help.

Little thing worth trying. When using a VST that causes the Receptor to restart, it's worth opening one that is know to work fine first, then close it, and open the one that crashes. I don't know why but it seems to do the trick sometimes.

I'm also running the latest OS (1.5.20060504 or sth like that...). I found the one who wrote that V-Station was running ok as an unsupported plugin (tconrardy) and wrote him a private message, but no answers yet.
Maybe the plugin just doesn't work so well after all...
I'll keep you informed if I get an answer.
