Using XMF filters

I see the new filters on screen, but can't figure out how to use them. Even in patches supposedly designed with them, I can't get them to affect the sound. Are they supposed to show up on every patch? Mine do. :help:

Hi,

Try with a initialized sound, free for modulation. Right click on the patch screen, initialize patch. On the mid grey screen you now only have OSC1. On the free slot below OSC1 right click to open pop up menu, choose XMF1 or XMF2. On the left side, in the Synthesis menu you have the new filter and one oscillator to play with from scratch.

Best regards

Something is certainly flaky here. Every patch I open shows two instances of XMF filters on the left hand side(where the components are shown), and right clicking to add another module *does not* give me XMF as an option. Something tells me my upgrade did not go as smoothly as it should have. I think I'll try uninstalling and then reinstalling. Thanks.

So, even after opening a new instance of Zebra 2 you still see more modules than just OSC1 in Synthesis view?

that certainly sounds like a bug, the beta team never experienced anything like it (xmf NOT showing up, yes, we had that, but xmf always showing up 2 times? that's new.)

Not sure about that. I'll have to check it when I get home later.

Just to confirm, the XMF modules should behave just as the other modules do? I should be able to select them from the drop down menu and add them to a patch just like any other module? I should be able to remove them from a patch by clicking on the chain of modules and selecting "remove"?

The thing is, they don't show up in the list of modules down the center, but they always show in the synthesis section. This led me to believe they were a "global" sort of module that were always present.

Definitely sounds like a reinstall is in order.

Yep. They should appear in the drop down menu near the bottom of the list. They shouldn't appear by default in the synthesis section--they show up when selected.

I had issues with SSE detection with an earlier build--but the XMF filters are working great now with my Athlon xp2100.

Yeah sounds like you have a beta version.. I had that problem with an older beta build.. the released 2.1 doesnt have this issue though..

what version are you using exactly?

For the record, the version was 2.0.92, even though I had upgraded with the 2.1 installer.

I decided to wipe out all files associated with Zebra 2 and start over (I backed up my presets of course). Worked like a charm. I now have ver 2.1 and the XMF modules are only there when they're supposed to be. :)

Note: I did not re-download the installer. I just nuked all Z2 files and reinstalled...

Thanks for your patience!

Glad it works!
