Ivory - problems

I have Ivory loaded on to my Receptor with 2G of RAM. The problem is that no patches show up in the Receptor's bank and patch lists in either the mix or edit windows. What have I done wrong?

Also, I am getting very low reliability out of Ivory. After playing sometimes as few as five notes the Receptor restarts - this happens regularly. Also, I get intermittent CPU blips coming through my monitors - they sound like high-pitched beeps.

I really want this to work - has anyone got any ideas?

Is DFD turned on? You will probably need it, Ivory is a resource hog...

Hi,
Please refer to my post referencing the same issue you have mentioned. Looneytunes had an answer that worked for me....
Also, maybe you can help with the other problem I'm having concerning the lack of midi control through the Receptor. Please see the post titled "Synthogy Ivory, Preset issues"
Thanks!

Hi Again John,

I'm wondering if your MIDI problems might be also causing the lack-of-response problems you are seeing in Ivory.
It's possible that rampant streams of Continuous controller info (being sent to Receptors MIDI-in) and to Ivory might be causing stutters?

I have been running Ivory on 2 receptors with excellent latency response. Typically, there have been only a few things that have affected this:

1.) Low ram (If you have 2g of 'good' RAM, this shouldn't be an issue

2.) Receptors Audio Buffer Size (64 or bigger should be good)

3.) Good Hard drive (slower drives will cause Ivory to have Disk Underruns. You would hear 'crackles' or 'dropouts', and the Ivory interface would show 'Disk' in bright red letters).

I would recommend to (temporarily) reconfigure your system to be as simple as possible to try to identify the problem.

First, just start with a MIDI keyboard connected to Receptor's MIDI input directly. Disconnect ethernet. Turn OFF (ZLoad) in Receptors System Panel). Set your Receptor's Audio buffer to 128. Start with an empty Receptor 'multi' patch. Configure a single Ivory patch. Turn off Ivory's 'effects' settings. Do not change any other Ivory settings (such as Ivory's audio buffer settings). This should be your simplest setup, and you should not witness any MIDI or audio latencies. If you have audio problems, it you might be identifying a Disk or Ram problem in Receptor. If you see MIDI problems, I would look to what your MIDI controller is generating.

Barring problems with the simple setup, you should then try to look for problems with your MIDI interface connected to Receptor MIDI-in (no Receptor MIDI-Out to interface MIDI-In). Receptor hooked to your MIDI interface this way should not cause any problems in your MIDI interface, nor anything connected to that interface.

Hopefully this will yield some clues. Good Luck,
Kevin L

Thanks Kevin! I'll try that. Sorry for the delay. I've been out of town. I think my problem may go deeper though. I recently upgraded to Cubase 4 and am having problems getting it to see any incoming midi information at all. I was running Cubase SX3 for over a year on the same setup without any issues. I'll keep you posted!!
Thanks again!
John
