Rgcaudio SFZ can be as basic and/or as advanced as you want it to be (if you read the manual).

Like a font is a collection of printable letter + symbols, a SoundFont is a collection of samples.dOCB wrote:Im a bit confused by the "soundfont" term. Are thes different from samples?
I creat WAVs I want to load in.
SFZ has no problems with playing WAV files as samples. Just try it, easy as a breeze.
But maybe you also need to look into SFZEd, the editor for SFZ. This is used to specify extra parameters for SFZ that belong to your samples.

Plz read the manual of both SFZ and SFZEd..
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

Now just read this and tell me that SFZ is not one of the most powerful samplers in existence.
You can do almost everything with it !
If you want you can use SFZed, but i prefer text editor.

SFZ is fine for playing soundfonts but it doesn't really answer the original poster's needs for collections of WAV files, as there's not really any support for Program Change messages in the sfz format.

Why don't you use loccN & hiccN if you want to switch programs via cc ?
Or even better - sw_lokey, sw_hikey & sw_last if you want to change patches by pressing a key ?

Mutant, the original poster is clearly asking about Program Change messages. You can't change the question just so that sfz format can provide an answer!

Hehehe i guess i love SFZ too much !pljones wrote:Mutant, the original poster is clearly asking about Program Change messages. You can't change the question just so that sfz format can provide an answer!
If you can convert your wavs to sf2 - SFZ will hear program change messages.dOCB wrote:I'm looking for a basic sampler VST that hears patch change messages.
If you can't you will have to use cc or keyboard patch switching which (depending on your controller keyboard) may be a better solution or not.
