This is driving me crazy.
I installed Zebra 2 according to the instructions which, of course, is simply run Setup.exe.
Cubase 4 refuses to show it. Please help me.

Not familiar with version 4 of Cubase...but maybe it got unchecked in the Plugin Manager accidently? That happens to me in Nuendo all the time with certain plugins. Try going into the Plugin Information dialog and making sure it's checked off as being used. I don't own Zebra either, so I don't know if I'll be much help. :P

Hallo Cold Pack , it don't think it has to do with Cubase.
I work with Zebra 2 in Cubase SX 2.2 and Cubase 4 without problems.
Did you install in the right Directory ? like program files/steinberg/vstplugins

Did you try it in another free vsthost like Maize Studio or Savihost ?

Post

Yeah, that's the thing. I installed it in that exact folder but it never ever shows up in Plug-In Information so I can't even get from there.
I've used Zebra2 on my mac with no problems (which is why I love my mac) but I'm on my PC at the moment and this is driving me CRAZY!

:)

Thanks for any help.

WHERE did you install it? on windows there is a vst-directory, which cubase reads, is the zebra dll in there? or just in some default location from the installer?

It's in program files\steinberg\Cubase4\VSTPlugins.

it's not cool to use warez, it's lame to use them.
Cubase 4 has got a specil idea about dummies ;if it sees one, it cuts it down immediatly

I suppose you already tried pressing the "Update" button in Cubase's plugin list?

Post

Do you have msvcr71.dll in your System32 directory?

Post

Yep I put it in the System32 directory.

BTW... it's a legit copy of Cubase4, bebop. Nice try.

So here's the deal.
I'm on Windows XP-Pro x64 Edition.
The msvcr71.dll is in C:\WINDOWS\system32.
The .dll file for zebra2 is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\Cubase 4\VSTPlugins\u-he

When I run Cubase4, I check Plug-in Info, press Update, but Zebra does not appear in the list.

That's where I'm at right now. :(

Hmm. I wonder if Win x64 can have something to do with it?

I've been running the Zebra2 demo in Cubase 4 with no problems, so I would doubt that it's a compatibility issue. It looks like you are doing all the right things, so I would suggest the following:

1. Totc above recommended pulling up the plugin manager. This is essentially a spreadsheet that lists all your plugins. Locate Zebra 2 and make sure that the appropriate columns have checkmarks in them. Sometimes the plugs don't get checked or become unchecked. If this doesn't work:

2. Reinstall.

3. Failing all of the above, I would contact Urs directly. He seems like a pretty standup guy and I'm sure he'd be glad to try to help you out.

So many plugins, so little time...

Is Zebra compatible with the 64 bit windows? That could be the problem

Post

Maybe Cubase added Zebra2 to the vst-blacklist-xml-file and thus doesn't load it. Just delete the Cubase blacklist file and then start Cubase to see if it loads Zebra.
