Jesusonic isnt "a plugin"whyterabbyt wrote:Is Jesusonic ever going to get finished as a plugin? Looks like there was a 2005 DirectX beta and thats it...
Its a plugin language made so that even non coders can create fx in real time, listening to their lines of code as they make them.
A jesusonic script called "majortom" was made by scott stillwell and is becoming my first compressor to go to very often. There are many other kickass JS plugs as well

To whyterabbyt's point, I wonder if there are eventual plans market a Cockos VST to run JS scripts, and/or compiled versions of same. This would give the talent of good JS scripters a new audience and a way to market their work.

I see your point, and it's all just a matter of semantics really, but the DirectX shell for Jesusonic is a plugin, it even says so in my plugin list, see:Pipelineaudio wrote:Jesusonic isnt "a plugin"

There definitely are some cool scripts for it already. I actually really like that it merges with Ninjam, too, makes for a good low resource FX processor in that setting (although tricky for live use, since it isn't the easiest to do extensive live tweaking).
And this Reafir plugin is all sorts of excellent, thanks kindly to its makers.

Actually, there is a Jesusonic plugin; in DirectX format. And in WinAmp format.Pipelineaudio wrote: Jesusonic isnt "a plugin"

And that is why I specifically said "finished as a plugin", rather than, say, "finished as a language." or "finished as software." Because I was asking about the completion of the plugin implemnentation. I deliberately restricted my question to a very specific thing, for a very specific reason. Follow?Download:
* Windows 2000/XP: Jesusonic 0.992 installer (1.4MB, Aug 23 2006)
o Supports ASIO, Kernel Streaming, DirectSound, and WaveOut. Also includes a plug-in for Winamp 5, and an experimental DirectX plug-in.
No, I dont really agree. Jesusonic isnt really 'a plugin language'. Certainly not in any context which doesn't also include 'a plugin' in the first place. Its a plugin language made so that even non coders can create fx in real time, listening to their lines of code as they make them.
It is however, a audio-processing language, that happens to be implemented as a standalone application, and also, seemingly as an embedded component of Reaper. Oh yeah, and as 'a plugin'.
The Jesusonic website describes it as 'a fully programmable effects processor', not a 'plugin language', btw.
If you can't answer my actual question, at least try and pay attention to what I actually said.

bump for the quest of information ... deadbeef?brok landers wrote:deadbeef, yes to the first, and of course, if it's not a too big problem, configurable limiterthreshold is highly apreciated ...deadbeef wrote:so checkboxes to brickwall limit wet, and wet+dry ? ... to +0dB or a configurable limit?
oh, while i'm at it:
at the very end of the signalchain, right after the limiter, just before the output, a levelslider to reduce the processed signal.
the reason for this is easy, let's take a snare for example:
that snare is leveled exactly to 0db.
i'd like to make that snare snappier.
what i do is, i compress the snare, leaving the attack open a bit (or i use the sidechain eq for this task, works nice also).
once the snare is comressed and sounds snappy, the following happend:
though the snap of the snare (transient) still hits 0db, the "body" of the snare is reduced in level, resulting in an less loud felt signal.
but that's what the limiter is for then ...
i raise the output of the compressor up again, against the threshold of the limiter (which in this case is at 0db), to get back the desired "felt" level.
as the curve of the limiter is different than the one of the compressor, it still sounds snappy, even if i reduce the transients i buildt with the compressor. fact is, that i have to find the right balance between creating snappiness and reducing it a bit again by the limiter after the compressor.
now:
to not be fooled by this increased loudness that the compressor-limiter is giving me as result, i'd like to be able to reduce the level _after_ the whole processing, to hear the same _audible_ (not mathematically) level that the unprocessed snare has ..
so finally, when crosschecking the processed/unprocessed signal, i will not be fooled by the increase of loudness the processing did to the snare:
i'm hearing what the compressor-limiter does to the sound _exept_ making it louder ...
understand what i mean?
that would be _it_ as i really like this compressor ...
sorry for my bad ienglish, when it comes to such deep explanation it really lacks ...
one minor thing:
the compressor and the gate don't show up in logic 5.5.1pc ...
though of course this is no longer supported, i thought i'd mention this, maybe you're challenged to get it working in there also ...
thanks for your ear and for this great pieces of software, deadbeef!
lemme know asap, as i'm very interrested!

I'm lovin' this Reacomp!
Very nice compressor! These will be for sale when?
I haven't read the whole thread, but $100 says that Brok asked for a brickwall limiter at the end of the chain.
I agree: this plugin tends to clip in auto-gain compensate mode.

answered the way I did because it was plain to see you were just being a dickhead, as you always do when reaper subjects come upwhyterabbyt wrote:

Sinkmusic...you do not find these GUIs to be incredibly good as is?
I find then quite to my liking. A nice size, very clean and clear. No...errrrm...knobs.
These interfaces are extremely efficient and quick to use as they are. I am not sure what you would change to improve their design.
