Receptor/Uniwire tech needed in L.A. *today*! (SuperbowlSun)

I'm a composer in Los Angeles with a new setup, consisting of 1 Receptor and 1 Receptor Pro. Due to recent circumstances beyond my control, I had to rebuild my studio last month, which has placed me behind schedule. I have a project that was due 10 days ago, and I've been stalling the client, while attempting to get my studio back up and running. As of Friday, I thought I was good to go, and I told the client I'd deliver music tomorrow (Monday). But now I'm having additional problems, and my regular techs are unavailable.
I bought the Receptors to run the EastWest Quantum Leap Pro XP Orchestra, and the problem is I'm getting pops and clicks when I load even ONE articulation. This is not a clocking issue. When I turn DFD off, the pops and clicks go away -- but then, since all the samples are loaded into RAM, I can't load my entire orchestra. Earlier today, a guy from Muse Research told me to futz with the DFD settings, which I've been doing all day -- but to no avail.
I absolutely have to get to work immediately.
So I'm looking to hire someone in Los Angeles who is familliar with Receptor and Uniwire who can come to my studio *today* (Superbowl Sunday) to help me suss this out. I'm dead serious. Fee negotiable. I will write you a check on the spot.
No. B.S.... Serious inquiries only. Is there anyone lurking who's qualified?

I hope you figured out by now that DFD doesn't work on any of the NI samplers. Your have to turn it off and you're then limited to loading all samples in RAM. Only solution I've found is to offload samples to another box.
Sorry for the bad news and hope you figured out how to get your project in.

I appreciate your reply, but you're wrong about DFD. I did have settings to adjust (plus I replaced komPAKT with konTAKT for the pro xp library), but DFD is in fact working now.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yes. It's worked for the last 2 years (on separate Macs I had, running VIs), and now it's running on Receptors. Maybe the key is I've never had it running on the same machine as my sequencer/DAW. (I don't know.)

If you could post your DFD settings on Receptor in Kontakt2 I think a lot of folks would be interested in seeing them!Syncopator wrote:Yes. Also, what latency setting didn't you end up using on Receptor?
thanks in advance,
John

I'm not in my studio now, but on the receptor, I pushed Kontakt's DFD slider way up to 500 or 600 (around 3/4 of the way to the right). I don't understand your 2nd question, and I didn't change any other settings in Kontakt. Then in DP/Pro Tools, I set the playback buffer to 512.

Thanks, I was talking about the buffer setting on Receptor, but if you are using Uniwire it's a non-issue (as the Receptor buffer size is automatically set at 2X your host buffer size in that case).Syncopator wrote:I'm not in my studio now, but on the receptor, I pushed Kontakt's DFD slider way up to 500 or 600 (around 3/4 of the way to the right). For me, and I don't use uniwire, Kontakt2 performance on large sample libs is directly effected by both the DFD settings and the buffer size.
Not in the studio today either, but I will post my DFD settings tomorrow so we can compare?
Thanks

I should have been more specific in my reply. Unless there's been some new development, DFD doesn't work reliably on the NI samplers on the RECEPTOR. It works great on the Mac. As another poster pointed out, DFD for NI samplers on the Receptor has been the holy grail. If you have the magic formula that gets DFD working for NI, let us know!!!

OK. I'm still new to this, so I don't know all of the "ins and outs" (no pun intended). Yes, I'm using Uniwire -- but only in MIDI Only mode. I am not passing audio through Uniwire. (Uniwire RTAS is still buggy in that respect.)

In that case then, your Receptor buffer size setting do figured into the equation!Syncopator wrote: OK. I'm still new to this, so I don't know all of the "ins and outs" (no pun intended).
