"character" in reacomp, comes from the same place as it often does in hardware compressors, the detector circuit
Mess with the rms time and change to feedback mode, mess with the hp/lp. Youd be surprised at what the character of "character' can be. Also certainly try an M/S in the detector

Anyone talked about the EQ? Quite nice and very configurable, but with latency as a cost.
Here is my small version:

I was kinda hoping that Reafir would eventually go VST plugin outside of Reaper. That's one plug I've always kinda liked, even though Reaper didn't fit my thinking.
Are these plugins expected to stay free? Just asking so I don't get attached to anything and then have to stop using it. Not trying to freeload, but for various reasons I won't be able to donate or pay for them.

Shouldn't we be reporting what works with which host?
Here, only ReaFir works with Audition 2.0 - the rest don't show.
[Edit - oops, just realised I've added to the thread while having only read the first page - didn't spot the rest! The above may therefore be redundant. Or not. Now I'll read the rest...]

Anyone tried the noise reduction ("subtract" mode) in ReaFir? Given the cost of other than crude NR software, this could repay some close examination. And it works in realtime rather than having to be destructively applied.

"Noise reduction"? Missed that!
For the record: All these plugins work perfectly in Cubase SX 3; Reacomp and Reagate will not start in Wavelab 5, but Reafir will, and seems to work fine. And now that I've tried the gate and seen what you can do with Reafir, I'd say these are the plugins to watch!
You Reaper guys have been hiding some goodies over there!

ReaFIR and ReaGate were the two plugins i was missing a bit, when i left Reaper. Haven't tried the comp yet, but the adjustable detector-circuit looks interesting.
Great that they released them as VSTs.
All three load in Live6 (ReaGate working incl. sidechain).

No, i couldn't stand Tracktion anymore. And in this phase Reaper just came along the way but her tits simply were not big enough.
