I'm new to all this and want to record guitar and voice. I have a computer running Windows XP that has a Realtek AC'97 Audio Codec (ALC202A) with 1/8" mic and line inputs. I downloaded the Luna Free PR5c and, unlike the tutorial that I found here online, there is no option during the installtion to select any ASIO components. So, I can't record. When I right click on the record button, the pop-up window only shows "None" as a choice for Audio Inputs. Any suggestions?Trafn@yahoo.com (mailto:Trafn@yahoo.com)

The default drivers for a basic sound interface like the Realtek aren't likely to support ASIO, and LUNE is designed to only support ASIO. The solution is something called ASIO4ALL, which is a "Universal ASIO Driver." Follow that link to the website, download the installer and it should straighten you right out. If you get Computer Music magazine, there's usually a copy of ASIO4ALL on the DVD.
Hope this helps.

PS: did you mean the tutorial at the JohnnyPumphandle site? If so, good going. If not, it's worth your time. Either way, it also mentions ASIO4ALL on its opening page.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
And just in case you cannot get ASIO4ALL to work with your setup, there are two other ones to try:
I didn't get ASIO4ALL to work with my Dell laptop and Sigmatel AC97, and the support forum didn't help (yet). Although these two are older and do not seem to be updated anymore, they worked for me. I now use ASIO2KS, and it seems OK.

Thanks! It worked great. And I did mean the Johnny Pump Handle tutorial, but I was mistaken in thinking that having the Realtec Codec was the same as having ASIO.DaveL60 wrote:The default drivers for a basic sound interface like the Realtek aren't likely to support ASIO, and LUNE is designed to only support ASIO. Thanks, I got the ASIO4ALL that DaveL suggested to work, but I'm bookmarking your sites just in case I have probs in the future or switch to different equipment.
Thanks again,

Alright! Glad that helped. That tutorial's good, but the author's always open to suggestions for improvement, so feel free to make them here!trafn wrote:Thanks! It worked great.
