uniwire installation

i'm still new to this whole receptor thing so im wondering. i tried to install uniwire 1.1 for windows that it said i need to install on my host computer so that recepter plugins can integrate into my DAW environment.but when i downloaded it, it said windows cannot open then file, it said windows needs to know what program created it.so im having trouble installing the uniwire plugin. i just want to synchronize the receptor clock with my host sequencer. i read there was another way to do that with physical connections using SPDIF cables. what ports do they get inserted into? i guess what im asking is can anyone tell me how to get uniwire running on my host computer, or maybe explain the alternative using physycal connections and SPDIF to synch the receptor clock to my sequencers clock? thanks
