This sounds silly, but i just purchased Pianoteq's piano simulator (risky, i know, given that it's not yet supported by Muse Research...) - the trial version seemed to work ok, so i thought i'd have no problems using the full version once purchased.

Ok, so i have the file loaded and installed into the Receptor - i have to activate the program by pasting the registration code into the installation applet. Problem is, i can't seem to paste from my browser window into the applet window within the Remote Control window! Ctrl-V doesn't work, right clicking doesn't give me the paste option...(i'm using Windows XP)

HELP!!

This sounds so easy as to be stupid...

yep, there is no cut-n-paste between windows and Receptor Remote. Sucks, doesn't it?

You should have SEEN the regcode I had to type in to get FabFilter Twin to work!

I gasped when i saw the stylus rmx ( or something like that .. i dont remenber correctly ) s/n challenge response thing.... i really think at the time it was a joke or something ... and its hard to have dyslexia with receptor ... it takes ages to get the correct string of random letters and numbers :P

I always write the s/n in BIG letters in wordpad or something ( red .. bold .. whatever gets ye going :P ) and rearrange it in groups of 5 numbers/letters

I believe in Mac ye can copy/paste to remote.
maybe a wierd solution will be writing the s/n key on a *.txt ... drag it to a special folder in receptor .. and it will be in the cache? ready to be pasted? ...

Pianoteq is nice ... did ye checked Truepianos?

This thread is a few days old but I had the same Problem today. I found a nice workaround: Just copy the activation code in the "description" field of a preset (eg Zebra). Now load the preset on the receptor, mark the description and you can right click and choose copy. To paste, you have to use CTRL + V (even on Mac) :)

Ah yes, the delights of remotely connecting between a computer and a Receptor come to light yet again.

There actually are some workarounds, especially with Spectrasonics plugins, and we have documented it in an FAQ, but here it is in a nutshell. This is how we activate things that require long strings of characters at Muse HQ (using a Mac... unfortunately it doesn't work in Windows like this):

To grab the Challenge code so you can bring it in to your Mac, you'll need it to be in an editable field. In the case of Spectrasonics, that would be the field that you normally paste the response code (!). So in a spectrasonics program, hit the COPY button, then click on the challenge response code entry field below, and then do a PASTE by going to Receptor remotes EDIT menu and selecting PASTE. Not too bad so far, right? Here's where it gets tricky:

Now SELECT the text you just pasted into the Response code field, and RIGHT CLICK to select COPY.

Now go to your browser on your Mac, navigate to the Authorization area of the Spectrasonics website, enter your serial number, select Authorize, and when it asks for the Challenge code, click in the field and then RIGHT CLICK and select PASTE from the pop up menu. This will paste the contents that were in the Response code field that you copied into the Challenge Code field on the website. Don't panic, we're almost there!

Click Authorize and generate the Response code. Select the response code so that it is all highlighted (all of it, every character matters!) and then RIGHT CLICK and select COPY.

Go back to Receptor Remote, select the text that was in the Response Code field, and delete it to clear the field. Now click into the Response code field so that the cursor is located in the Response code field, go up to the EDIT menu in Receptor Remote, and select PASTE from the edit menu. You'll see the Response code appear in the field, click Authorize, and your done!

I know that seems like quite a complex Yoga move for a fairly simple idea of cutting and copying text, but realize with Receptor Remote the fields you see with text in them on the Receptor remote are actually GRAPHICS and not alpha-numeric ASCII text. To cut, copy, or paste any text from a VNC viewer, the text HAS to be in a live / editable text window, or else it just won't work. This is all because you are remotely viewing the graphics and text from your Mac, but once you understand the concept, then other programs could theoretically be authorized in this manner using the two different levels of copying and pasting.

Helpful or confusing???
