Set Theory claim:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate.
Red is Red and anything that is Red is an object, a class in itself or a real thing if you prefer"

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I'm not mad, and my argument with you has nothing to with ChordSpace or jazz.Toxikator wrote:Right, well... I started this thread because many threads past, Nuffink got mad that I said that Chordspace was only good for jazz.
My argument with you is that you're an ignorant little troll attempting to bluff your way in a subject you know almost nothing about.
You've been rumbled, kid. Time to go.

Ah. Okay. I certainly feel rumbled, too, what with your incessant bitching and utter lack of intellectual output.nuffink wrote:I'm not mad, and my argument with you has nothing to with ChordSpace or jazz.Toxikator wrote:Right, well... You know what your problem is? You've got this God complex that you need to stroke by lurking on this forum screaming at technicalities.
Here's how a conversation akin to the one last thread OUGHT to go:
JJF: ii7
Nuffink: I see what you mean, but you should be careful, "ii7" is a kind of vague way of describing that chord. Technically it can be correct, but it might confuse newbies.
JJF: Duly noted.
Here's how it TENDS to go:
JJF: ii7
Nuffink: see, this is why I say you're retarded. There's no way in hell that's right, it's wrong on every level, you're a f**king moron, GTFO.
see, when you're a revolting dick for no reason other than to try to be technically right, people are going to argue BACK from a technical standpoint. Aand it's TECHNICALLY correct, no matter what your system says.
If you would pull your head out of your ass for at least a couple minutes you'd realize that, whatever you think about JJF, myself, or anyone else around here, we usually have an answer when there's a question, and it's almost always MOSTLY right (and hey, everyone makes mistakes, Mr. Classical-theory-is-only-concerned-with-voice-leading). You, on the other hand, have nothing but your nose turned up and terrible things to say. occasionally you'll dump a long post about jazz chord progressions or something, but it seems to me you've spent more time in this forum talking down to me than you have being helpful.

Well, I have to point out that the phrase "attempting to bluff your way in a subject you know almost nothing about" pretty well fits your contribution to my request for information on nonstandard notation systems, in which (a) you failed to understand what I was requesting, (b) your comments were primarily concerned with undermining the validity of a request for such a thing and (c) your final 'contribution' after being asked to respect the context and subject of my request was blatantly childish idiocy.Toxikator wrote:Ah. How is that attempting to bluff my way in? I entered that thread because it piqued my curiosity, made it perfectly well-known that I knew pretty much dick about it, and then left when I concluded that it seemed like a silly way to notate something.
Attempting to bluff my way in would have been do something more along the lines of acting like I totally knew what it was and then making a bunch of bullshit suggestions which were shot down by people who understood the concept.
sorry, but no.
Me: Hey guys! What the hell is all this about?
You: Quit acting like a f**king expert.
