If he did, I missed it. If that's the case, then I'm all for it. But assuming there's going to be one single version, I wanted to provide input from the other camp. He can do with it what he pleases. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on this project regardless of the outcome.ahjteam wrote: ...
Didn't FS say that he will make a few versions of the FA3, one with less tweaking possibilities for low-cpu use?

i too like the idea of feedback.
Here's a wacky idea... what if you left slots for external VST plug ins? That way, we could choose to use the best parts of FreeAmp3 and choose to use our own chorus, delay and reverb units if we want. Does this make any rational sense? Kind of a modular setup where you can host VST FX optionally.
Thanks for making such a cool tool available for free, sir

I knew the gate needed attention but reading his review made it that much more of a prority. So I sent cresta a mail to let him know of a new gate to try, and he dubbed it the cresta gate (I sure hope that means he thought it works OK)?
If you look on my site I have a plugin on the Effects page named "GatePlus" that will become FA3's new gate? Let me know what you think of it?

1. Do you mean manual as in "How to" there is a manual in .chm format included with FA2, if you place it in the same directory as the VST\.dll it will load by clicking the FreeAmp logo on the bottom right. For the auto wah make sure you have both the wah and autowah switched "ON"ahjteam wrote:You asked, but it still kicks ass as is now. My wishlist:
1 - a thing called 'manual' into the package, eg. we had huge problems at the studio to make the autowah work properly on FA2 (=still haven't found a way).
2 - soft/hard knee option to the compressors, possibly attack/release knobs (and auto button for them ones who don't know how to use the compressor) and visible number what the ratio position represents, like 1:1.5, 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 etc. a digital display perhaps?
3 - Better feedback/sustain simulator
4 - To make the gate more versatile, add these options to the gate (eg. dbx 1074 and older version 274 have these options): Threshold (volume), Hold (time), Release (time), Expand (on/off), Ratio (slow/fast) + leds "open" "hold" "limit".
5 - put the things on different tabs/subpages so it wont look so crowded. and one tab for presetgroups and presets in general
6 - say 10 area graphic EQ or even full parametric one?
7 - possibility to choose the order of the pedals
8 - I wonder if it would be better to make the pedals not look like pedals, but rack-units instead and make the rack-area scrollable to save space?
9 - tuner (and possibly a tune tone with A, A# and Ab possibilities)
10 - tremolo with more visibility, took me a month to see it was there
11 - a hi-pass filter with adjustable frequency from 30-300hz = just a reminder that the bass player is not in the band because he has a van
12 - pingpong stereo-sweep
13 - pitchshifter/detuner
14 - co-operation with sir for ultimate guitar reverb? *drools*
15 - some "space-effects" like on korgs pandoras box
16 - the amount of distortion would be dependable on the amount of input signal like in the real amplifier (if you play lightly with medium distortion, the sound will/might not be distorted almost at all). this could be made via same kind of algorithm as compressors: treshold and ratio. but please put an auto option for the dumb ones again
17 - wet/dry mixer
18 - channel A and channel B that can be changed via midi on the fly (like real amps) or so that they could be possibly mixed in the output. like: a wet 35%; b wet 45%; dry 20%
19 - but you could also add some smooth bass booster (exciter/enhancer?) to compensate the #11
20 - phase inverter that could be added anywhere, because a lot of effects can cause a lot of phase-errors
21 - you could ask real guitarists to make some really cool presets for the plugin. This would just be a major bonus, nothing more. And a good wah-wah -preset for bass(?!?) would be appriciated
22 - If you can manage to make a sound with your plugin that makes the bass sound like this (see references), I will bow down to you
edit: 23 - the pin up girl
2. attack and release are planned for the comp.
3. Working on that?
4. Check out "GatePlus" on my site let me know what it needs?
5. That was one thing I wanted to eliminate from FA is a lot of hidden stuff, still don't believe grymmjack pulled it off
6. Never really liked graphic eq on guitar amps, almost offers too much control IMHO
7. Still can't do that in SE, but pre, post placement is already being worked on.
8.
9. Still havent been able to pull off a decent tuner, in some ways its probably better as a seperate plug though! FA is getting big.
10.
11. Use the "Chub" control, turn it down.
12. Ping pong delay planned.
13. Working on an octaver
14. CPU, latency
15.
16. Working on that from the start, I keep trying.
17. You mean to mix the dry guitar with the amp output?
18. I'm hoping to pull off way more then that! seperate switchable clean\drive on each amp, Two seperate amps that can be setup different and panned to a user possition. Also the possablility to have velocity crossfade between the amp, so when you play soft one setup will play, play hard and the other amp will crossfade in
19. ? most likely best left to the master phase of recording, but then again there is live use, will see what I can do.
20. ? Will check it out.
21. Hey what you trying to say there
22.
Thanks
Fretted Synth
BTW People asked about different versions, Yep! I finally have the structure of FreeAmp setup so doing different versions (amp only, FX version, synth version) will be real easy.

Thank you for the reply FS. Here is another one:FrettedSynth wrote:4. 17. You mean to mix the dry guitar with the amp output?
4. The Gate Plus and "Slow Beer" (oh boy, what a name for a gate!) pedal looked otherwise OK, but I still miss the signal-lights that tells if its open or closing down (eg. limit-(hold)-open)... And I find the word "decay" strange for some reason, because I find word "Slow/Fast" or "Speed" is more describing (I connect the word "decay" more to reverb/delay effects)
5. If you have the Pre-amp and mic-setting on the first tab, Pedals on second tab and presets and presetgroups on the third tab (the mile long dropdown list in cubase is a hell)... I don't find few tabs as disturbing as everything crammed to smaller space on single page that propably won't even fit 1024x768 monitors. If the pedals could be scrollable horizontally, you could really save some space and just put just the presets to the second tab, everything else on the first tab
7. There are advantages in the order... For example if add a gate after reverb rather than before it, you can still hear the reverb tails if the gate is before the reverb, but you won't if you add it after the reverb.
9. Nope, it would take less insert slots, I already use all the 6 pre-inserts of Cubase on guitars. And didn't someone say in this thread that they we're willing to give the source for G-tuner? I'll check and edit the answer here.
17. Yes, some acoustic guitars have a beautiful sound on its own that you want to mix ingrymmjack wrote:how would you guys like a freeamp tuner using gvst gtune with a skin aligning with the plug? i just finished the gvst suite of skins and am very comfy skinning gtune.. i made a promise, and i keep my promises.

gonna start on one even if no one wants it. so nyah.

4. Slowbeer
I guess I would suck as a advertizing\PR type of guy, hense! my stuff is FREE.
Yeh! "Decay" has stuck since I started the gate in Sync modular about six years ago, I did'nt want to change it because I had so many versions labeled that way already.
I finally changed it in "Drum Direction" to be "Re-Trigger"
Which is really what it was designed for! it sets the time before the gate can trigger again, so you can prevent false triggers.
5. I guess in some ways that would make the project of seperate versions even more easy? Will have to have to think about it and have a look?
7. Yeh! I wish I could do a full setup for FX placement, but SE don't allow feedback loops so I can't
9. The tuner mentioned is made by Graham, GVST plugins. Grymmjack was talking of making a skin for it, to use beside FreeAmp. I do have to say all of Graham's stuff is great, Thanks Graham.
17. OK! then it will be added
Peace

Sorry for the bump, but THIS (video available at ) was one of the coolest things I've heard in a while... especially the sound starting from 0:53. Any possibilities to get this or similiar effect in?

Oh yeah, another feature came in mind, but I don't want to slow the progression of this one... Maybe for FreeAmp4?

But the idea is that could it be possible to get a quick-switcher mode (like channelswitcher-pedals on guitar amplifiers, see picture above), where you can change presets on the fly. If used correctly, you could use it to activate it with pedalboards that can operate with midi
