Having spent some time with version 1.2 I find myself really wanting:

The ability to have the Arp-Seq bypass one or more osc's. That would allow the un-sequenced osc's to run filter sweeps etc.

The ability to have the effects bypass osc's.

Osc sync

More Mod Destinations (Mod Wheel to ADSR release etc).

I must admit that I've done a complete 180 degree turnaround on my opinion of Sylenth 1. While not being impressed by the initial demo at all I now find Sylenth's osc and filter quality to be quite stunning. The quality of sounds Sylenth 1 is capable of making is very impressive indeed.

Thanks, I'll keep these things in mind for the interface overhaul.

Thanks! It's good to know suggestions are a least considered. On the subject of Osc Sync, Ichiro Toda's Synth1 has a wonderful character when using Osc Sync and selecting Noise as Osc 2's waveform. It creates these fantastic metallic plucked sounds (with a short Amp Env attack time). I would love to see this character added to Sylenth1 with Osc Sync. The superior quality of Sylenth's Osc's would really shine thru in this case in my opinion. With one Osc pair set to the metallic pluck sound driven by the Arp/Seq and the other pair doing wonderful deep filter sweeps and growls.......... In my opinion this sound added to Sylenth's arsenal would be very welcome and impressive. Don't know if it's possible to add in Sylenth but check out Synth1's plucked metal sounds..........very nice. :hihi:

My wish list:
- preset browser that displays my banks also, similar to albino.
- the gui is pretty big, how about a +- button for hiding keyboard?
- wahwah effect
- quality settings: some patches use a lot of cpu, so maybe draft/high option would be nice
- comb filter

Aside from this, i simply love sylenth1. My no.1 synth to go. :tu:

Good points.

You can already make a wahwah effect by the way, by modulating the cutoff of a resonating filter with a sine LFO, or by using the phaser with LFO and some feedback.

Sylenth is one HUGE sounding synth -

Anyone running this synth with Mackie Tracktion 2?

Lennard - please keep me posted.

More flexible envelopes.
ADSR was a revolution in the 70s but is now the least you can get.

I see 'oscillator sync' to be mentioned a request here, and yet someone has confirmed that it is implemented:
quoting grammyjack from this thread: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... c&start=30
it does osc sync and pwm. pretty sure on the pwm -- safe to say that setting oscs to pulse and modulating their phases is pwm? osc sync is when the oscs start on new notes at the same time right? they lock together (retrigger) on every note? it is on like this in sylenth1 by default i was told by lennard. atleast in the beta i've been using this is so.
Is it or not ? I used the demo when the synth was released. Has it been updated since then?
If not, why spread misinformation ?

The oscillator sync Teksonik was referring to is hardsync, which means that one oscillator resets the phase of the other. This creates a specific sound.

Grymmjack on the other hand was talking about sync in terms of locking the start positions of the oscillators, which is not the same as hardsync, but still is useful to create new waveforms by adding several synced oscillators together (and modulating their phases for example).

Hope that clears up the misunderstanding.

Will do.

Yes, there's now an arpeggiator, chorus/flanger effect, osc inversion for PWM effects and lots of bug fixes, improvements and new presets ;)

That's what I was refering to in that thread as well. I didn't realise that 'osc sync' could be taken to mean anything else but 'hard-sync', not on a specialist synth website like kvr, especially coming from experienced users.

I'm following Sylenth's development with interest, hence my popping up in various Sylenth threads.
I do hope Sylenth gets some of the extra synthesis options that have been mentioned by various people, at least, osc sync, fm, ring mod .
The GUI is so lovely and inviting with a great colour scheme.

Keep up the great work. It's worth every penny. While it's already impressive (and sounds fantastic) I'd like to see general improvements to the synthesis engine as mentioned previously -- a little FM, ring mod, more destinations, etc. All that's been mentioned is good. :)

But I also would love a SECOND arp to be added so that I could create a patch that allows me to route one arp to PART A and the second arp to PART B... So in other words, allow each arp to go to PART A, PART B or BOTH.

Also, a patch browser might be nice, but not necessary. At least put the patch name in the LCD window... right now it just says PROGRAM SELECT < 010 > and so forth. I'd like the name there if possible.

Also, since you've added the arp (thank you!), maybe you'd be open to adding a trance gate. I know you don't want to pigeon-hole Sylenth for that type of application, so maybe you call it something else, like "pattern gate," and it could work something like the arp, only control a gate and/or filter. It should also be able to be routed to PART A, PART B or BOTH like my dual-arp suggestion.

Keep it up Lennard, your work is really outstanding!

And by the way, I'd be happy to pay for a 2.0 upgrade with the above improvements.

I think having a second arp would be a bit impractical and confusing, and would only be used for a few patches maybe. If you want to run several arps together I'd recommend a tool like Xlutop Chainer. You can load up 2 (or more) instances of Sylenth in that, and run all arps simultaneously.

There'll definitely be something like that later on.

You can already do a trance gate with the current version! Use the Step Velocity as a modulation source in the Misc Mod panels, and modulate Mix AB with that for example (and set the Mix A and B sliders to 0). That will create a trance gate where you can set the gate using the velocity settings in the step sequencer.

Might sound a bit confusing at first, but it's not too hard, just check out the "GAT" presets in the factory soundbanks, they all use this technique.

This way you can select on which parts you want to use a trance gate, or you can modulate things like the cutoff frequency which also gives pretty nice effects :)

Thanks for all that info, Lennard! So what WILL be in the next update??? :)

Post

Well, there are still some issues with FL Studio and Tracktion that need to be solved, there will be a preset browser, improved MIDI learn functionality for all knobs and controls, and a large part of the user interface needs to be rewritten to get it working on Mac. These are some of the things that are on top of the list.
