Maybe it's just my "imagination", but usually I trust my ears in this section as engineer. And sorry Nick, I don't know what you try to tell me with this picture.

Khmmmm...i dont want to be dickhead. I tryed this plug. Especialy since Kingston prised about this plug. I was thinking "wow, it must be something good". Then i realised that i can get same and far more customisable sound with Fruity Waveshaper. Hell you even have similar preset called "Quick sat". Try to play with mix knob and with lines.

Of course tubedriver is free and far more easier to use then Fruity Waveshaper but it's only a Waveshaper...

ehm - who are you?
the sound between this version IS different - with closed eyes! It wasn't possible for me to recreate the sound of 0.76 (wich i like) with 0.93/.94

even if it's only the gui - and i just wasn't able to find the right setting - that only tells me the gui is not good

Are there any difference between 0.73, 0.76, and 0.77? I can only get 0.77 now, so I'm not sure why people talk a lot more about 0.76.
Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here. ;)

i wonder if this developer is working on anything else .. i like tube driver and use it a lot.

essentially yes, but a good one at that. ;)

Some thoughts:

The Fruity Waveshaper is actually one of the best I've ever seen/heard so saying that it can create similar results to tube driver is not a bad thing at all.

Also, I have not yet tried the new version more than very quickly but just for reference:

The tubemaximizer plugin versions since 0.4 ALL sound and behave different. VERY different so I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were differences in the tubedriver plugin as well.

I still prefer the 0.4 version of Tubemaximizer as it's more "brutal", more hard knee kind of sounding (thinking in waveshaper terms).

Cheers!

hey verstaerker and Compyfox. you were both right. Sorry for being such a dick.

They sound quite significantly different. I was simply using bad test material and they both ended up sounding the same. The latest low CPU version won in that comparison for obvious reasons.

I've since tested them on some better guitar and bass material and the old 0.77 was quite significantly better sounding. The new version does indeed sound more harsh, and I presume it aliases quite a bit more than the "inefficient" old v0.77.

Too bad it uses so much CPU.

And Nick, if you choose to revisit the design, please consider re-introducing the voltage control. It was a big part of the effect's mojo.

Hi Kingston, could you please post some of your comparison files between the different versions?

Thanks,
midi.

I guess he was setting himself up there.

How much did you pay for Antares Tube, Dayl, out of curiousity?
