I don't know if this will interest anyone, but I'm building a mini midi keyboard, from a salvaged one and I'm keeping a blog of it here:

Any suggestions? let me know!

Cool. I'm interested to see how you get on with this.

DIY drum pads would be a neat project though, as you say, totally different logic to a keyboard controller... Simple enough in theory but you really need to know a bit about programming PICs or something (I don't :)) if you going to roll our own.

Good luck if you need a midi brain here's Roman's free 24 key PIC16F84 controller project. You can use a standard dip instead of the SMD version but you'll have to make your own PC board. The firmware and schematics are on this page.

hmm, thanks for that. however I'm just using the circuitry from the old one!

Yes! this is cool. I have thought about building my own midi controller with Force Sensing Resistors. You could create a badass interface for effects, midi effects too. I would like to create a stand alone version of the Korg Elcetribe EMX Arpeggiator, you would need these FSRs to do it. So put some on your DIY keyboard then teach me!!

Edit: forgot the FSR link; http://www.interlinksensors.com/index.php?id=NDgy

Build this too!
