Cool. I'm interested to see how you get on with this.
DIY drum pads would be a neat project though, as you say, totally different logic to a keyboard controller... Simple enough in theory but you really need to know a bit about programming PICs or something (I don't

Good luck if you need a midi brain here's Roman's free 24 key PIC16F84 controller project. You can use a standard dip instead of the SMD version but you'll have to make your own PC board. The firmware and schematics are on this page.

Yes! this is cool. I have thought about building my own midi controller with Force Sensing Resistors. You could create a badass interface for effects, midi effects too. I would like to create a stand alone version of the Korg Elcetribe EMX Arpeggiator, you would need these FSRs to do it. So put some on your DIY keyboard then teach me!!
