f3, click a rack, right click, remove, yes -> crash (459K). Happens on "Dummy" entries, too.
Can't reproduce the crash.

After quickly viewing the crash log file, i'm not yet sure if the crash is in luna.
What's PrintSession and Thunderbird?

Anyway, will go deeper in this asap.
Bug report #2:
Turn on Embed Racks and Embed Sends. Drag the racks so they overlap. Clicking the "titlebar" brings a rack to the front -- but it leaves the titlebar behind! See "Rack C"...
Yes, i'm aware that there is a little graphic artifact there. Thanks for reporting. Will be resolved.

Yes, the same thing happens to me as well.
Caco,

Do you mean that the crashes also happens with your luna?
Or were you talking about the strange rack overlappings?

Yeah, sorry bout that. It's in the docs. Double-clicking is the way to go now when you want to edit something.
Autoarrange - can you add more layout hints?
1) Sends should be lower down than their inputs.
2) Outputs from sends should be lower down than the send.
Modular setups can be quite complex. I'm not sure if these rules would work in all kinds of situations.

Note that the auto-arrange function is just a little helper functions to get you started.

But organizing the plugs is up to you, and i'm sure, pretty dependent on the project.

oldguy wrote:Hi Jo,

Just tried 8 - you continue to rock the house! The new modular routing is pretty cool - it adds pretty much unlimited power to routing of synths and effects.

I also really like the way it sits in the background unless you need it, yet works seemlessly with the rack-only view.

That said, I'm running into similar crash bugs that pljones is reporting about the modular interface. Sometimes, just opening the window causes it to die.

One suggestion - 7b seems to be the most stable version since 4 - I'd suggest that you continue to keep it up on your web site.

Thought - Keep a known stable version + a latest and greatest (all the new toys for us to test and break for you! ;) ) You don't want to turn off people who download something like the 7.0 version and then think Luna is bug ridden - get 'em hooked, and then get their 39 euros.

I know that you have a goal not to do beta's, but if you let us help you find the bugs, you can spend more time creating more killer features.

Keep up the good work, man!
Thanks for the fine and wise feedback.

I'll do some extra testing on PR8 asap (gave it tough testings yet) and try to find the bastard bug in the modular area.

Can you give more details on when the crash exactly occured? What action caused it? Any crash log files?

If i can't get PR8 rock stable within a couple of days, then i'll follow your advice.

An advice i'll certainly keep in mind regarding future releases.

Sorry, I meant the crash. LUNA free crashes every time for me using the modular view when removing a plugin from a rack.

Yep, 100% repeatable. Right-click, Remove, Yes. On any plugin, in either plugin view or modular view. I have to leave unwanted stuff off to the side in modular view...

http://www.drealm.info/luna/drwtsn32-200703111342.log (132K) - next to nothing else running, start luna, new session, F3, select rack a, right click, remove, yes. Crash.

Similar crash bug on Mac OSX 10.3.9:

BUG: You can resize VST windows. ;)

I personally like previous beta bank/program management.

mahtazz, i know what you mean.

But the problem is the VST 2.4 SDK :(

Steinberg drastically changed the way how VST editors must be build on OSX.

And this has lead to this decission.

I noticed that also Live is just giving a plain vst editor. The extras are somewhere else.

The way it is now may be not "perfect", but it's the only way to support VST 2.4 on OSX, without doing extreme trickery.

And, after some jamming before releasing PR8, i was already getting used to it.

I personally like the generic preset window. Once you get used to it it's probably even faster than having to do it in a plug's GUI.

Random musings/FR :

-"Save as" with the possibility to have the original filename show up, so you don't have to type things like "2007-03-11-beat-120bpm_002" all the time but can simply change the version number.

-Folder: create new.

Yeah, also the rack window seems a little goofy. You can make it bigger when there really isn't anything else to see.
Not the end of the world tho... :clown:

Could the plugin window display buttons for "Choose program", "Rename program", "Open program" (/bank) and "Save program" (/bank)? It's a pain that, having popped open the plugin and tweaked the settings, you have to find it again in the rack/modular view to get these options. Having Assign and Remap MIDI Controller there would also be handy.

You can click an existing filename, then click New File, then the existing name is filled in already ;)
Folder: create new.
Added to the whishlist.
