Receptor Midi automation

Hello. I've been following the progress of Receptor, and I'm still very interested.
I was wondering how (and if) the parameters of the various plug-in's/vsti's can be controlled through Midi, and how this works...Is there a Midi learn function?
More importantly, could one automate plugin/vsti parameters by recording them from either on screen or the receptor's front panel, into an external hard/soft sequencer? Are Mutes, Solo's and individual effects bybass button's all automatable via MIDI?
Thank you...

Plug-in parameters can be controlled via NRPNs. If you have a controller that supports NRPNs, like the Novation Remote 25, it's very easy. Some controllers like the M-Audio Oxygen do not support NRPNs.

Some plug-ins do not publish their parameters. For instance Trilogy, Atmosphere, PlugSound, etc. Because we do not have access to their parameters you cannot control them through NRPNs. But, most plug-ins do publish their paramaters, so you can control them.

Not at this time. But, there is a plug-in parameter learn-like function. You move a parameter in the plug-in GUI and you can assign it a "slot" on the front panel. This way you can define the order of parameters on the front panel.

For instance, you can assign the four most important parameters to the first four front panel parameters. Then, you can use the four rotaty encoder under the LCD to control those four parameters. Otherwise, you can controll all parameters from the front panel, but you have too select the parameter with one knob and change it with another.

The first 16 parameters that you assign to the front panel are controllable by regular MIDI controllers, so you could use even an Oxygen 8.

Moreover, you can rename your parameters for the front panel. For instance, if a plug-in publishes the name of a parameter (the name that you would see on a faceless UI) as "A27-Filt4-Res" you can rename it as "RESONANCE" and that is what you would see on the front panel.

Not at this time.

Every single mixer function in Receptor is automatable through MIDI: volume, pan, mute, solo, plug-in bypass, send level, pre/post, fx routing.

Thank you for your quick reply...NRPN's are a good way to control plug-ins...Most control surfaces can handle them. It's also good to hear the mixer can be automated.
Of all the things that aren't yet implemented, I strongly suggest implementing the ability to automate plug-ins by editing their parameters on screen, and having the results go to the midi out....This is how most people automate plugins in a DAW, by tweaking them as the sequencer records the movements, if I am not mistaken (as opposed to setting up midi control).
Thanks again for the response.

Hi,

just checking if any updates were made. I am not clear on a few things. How will I change between presets from midi messages ? and can I fully customize the midi buttons what controls what ? (if a plug-in supports midi-learn does that mean it will work? )

thx

p.s. ah and what are nrpn's and which devices support them?
war is not about who's right it's about who's left

Ununumium, you can also set the system to Ignore Bank Select and Target Sources, you can sned midi to the system and control the plugs via standard midi cc#s. You can only automate what is already available in the plug, but if it has a midi learn function (like Lounge Lizard and B4ii) then you can create setups that will respond to controllers of your choosing.

Both methods work well, but this is a VERY flexible system, and you may need to try several methodologies to find the one that works best for the way YOU work.
