Ixox - The river flows -> Interesting vocal sound. I like the instrumentation, nice changes, very interesting piece overall.
Laguna Rising - Pale Dragon Returns -> Covers a lot of ground, sound-wise. I like the flute early on.

So you've got a little over a week to go to it. Should fill out your spring break nicely.(d) submitted before 11:59 PM Saturday, March 24th, 2007

mikewelch7 - Swallowed the Mountain -> Nice-sounding track. A few points that might be worth considering though:
1) according to the timer on the Myspace player, the track goes for over 3 minutes. Contest max is a reasonably-strict 2 minutes.
2) submission should include a direct link to an mp3 file; embedded links on websites that require flash players aren't quite the same. A lot of voters won't end up hearing it as they listen primarily through Markleford Radio, which only picks up directly-linked mp3s (or oggs).
Scoops' first post in the submission thread covers all of the details.

You should definitely sing because A) prog rockers can't sing anyways and B) i'm sure you sound a lot better than most here.xolax wrote:Are vocals necessary? because I can't sing whatsoever....

Most of the entries this month are instrumentals, it seems.xolax wrote: Ok then Ill try to go for it. Are vocals necessary? because I can't sing whatsoever...
Why let the pre-existing examples of the genre get in the way? In the words of a great music producer, "Just wing that mother."xolax wrote:I guess I should go listen to some prog rock first, eh?

Great sentiments but -- I'm afraid this is another one of those months where you're going to hear "Well, I didn't vote for it because it's not prog rock in my definition..."Echo Voodoo wrote:...

I'm realy curious how prog rock sounds, played on a ukulele...
Maybe we'll find out within a week.
Poor Oddbods must be suffering like never before
; but we will be suffering when he wins this month, too !

...mmm, what about death metal on ukulele and spoons...
...Trash-uku...
Less funny : now I have to fix my car, while babysitting,
Max... .. .
PS : Adj, I prepared Chinese â la Max for Liqih and Mello; I hope they're still alive and kicking...

Hoho,
well, we're still alive and the meal was great...the only problem was the foggy air in Max' house. He can't put his fingers away from these mighty porros

Oh I know that. Normally I like to vote for things that match the theme well that I also personally enjoy. With a prog rock theme, though, those two elements are in opposition most of the time. As a result, actually being 'proggy' is the less important of the factors for me, and matching the theme won't get as much attention from me as it normally would.adj wrote:Great sentiments but -- I'm afraid this is another one of those months where you're going to hear "Well, I didn't vote for it because it's not prog rock in my definition..."
