Personally my aim was to at least disarm the "no vocals - no vote" principle :D, although the song might have sounded better without the vocals

Me109 wrote:MarcJX8P_Timechange Cool song! I liked the interplay between the B3 and lead synth and the building tension with the morphing pad around 1:19.
Thanks! :)

And some more reviews:

Fanfare For A Fan of Fairs - Fritz Fiedler:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interesting track. Could maybe have done with some more variation and the drums sound a tad muffled and in the background. Still, cool track!

Take Me To Your Leader - Chimpuat:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A fun track. The vocals dominate a bit though and the synths and organs sound a bit too much in the background for me. Nice track!

Yes Maybe But Then Again - Scotthagel:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Great track with some wonderful musical ideas and nice sounds. It seems to be lacking something to me though, maybe some kind of lead synth or something else as the track now seems more of a buildup to something which is kind of exaggerated by the sudden ending. Very nice though!

The river flows - Ixox:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A nice track with some intricate arranging. I'm not to fond of some of the synth sounds which sound a bit gm to me. Nice guitars and orchestral sounds though. Nice track!

Thanks guys for the comments.

Marc, I assume you talk about the synth at the beginnig (which is back somewhere in the middle), there is only one synth
This is the only track of my song that does not have any effect on it...
I liked how the direct sound sounded with the acoustic guitare but i agree it sounds "simple"...

oddbods finger - pride & progudice (double gatefold sleeve) -> Love that Casio percussion sound - the percussion solo at 1:02 was marvellous. Great lyrics, sounds like you had fun with this one.

me109 wrote:echovoodoo_whyareyoucallingme - Prog or not, you got the Kraftwerk thing going and then some! Never heard such an intriguing telephone before
The telephone sound likely wasn't around in the 70s (it was a preset in Fabfilter One), but it sparked the idea for the lyrics, so I kept it.

Thanks for the comments!

Hans your singing is great -- no worries. :)

I'm kinda surprised/delighted that there are so many instrumentals this month! :tu:

I mean, probably the greatest prog rock band ever in the history of music in the entire universe were 'The Ventures', with nearly nary a vocal (other than a small yodel here or there) to their 8 platinum album credit! :D

Cheers for the comments, all. Surprisingly fun month. 8)

(And thanks to Hovmod for that pr*garchives link way back in the thread. :scared: + + :hihi: + :tu:)

Beardedone-ELIZAR - Maybe Beardedorian is more appropriate - Loved the guitar solo on the long version

Peppy197-70- Fantasia - I got into the ominous mood about halfway through with that acoustic bass thing going and those suspended synth chords - The guitar strums ended up like a stranger in a strange land, then the surprise ending with the Hammond and piano - Lots of variety - I enjoyed it!

FritzFiedler-FanFareFor a Fan of Fairs - On listening to it a few times, I can't help thinking that it's the understated bass line and accompanying hi hat percussion that really completes the disquieting images it conjures up. Let's hear it for augmented fourths!

chimpuat-takemetoyourleader - This one was easy to listen to. I caught the Close Encounter quote - The 70's disco ascending octaves in the bass - I don't think the towel and toothbrush are much protection against Luke's daddy, so be careful…

scotthagel-YesMaybeButThenAgain - Interesting overlaid rhythms and harmonies - The Yes part must be mostly due to the arpeggiated chords in the high synth. I liked it.

Ixox_TheRiverFlows - The strings, flute and harp really come together well to enhance a really nice song. There were parts where I didn't quite understand where the harmonies were going, but over all, a good song.

LagunaRising-Pale-dragon-returns - The opening theme is well composed - I would have liked to hear it return more - but when you got to the transitional part in the middle, it really got prog. Somehow there was a subtle but persistant oriental feel to a lot of it. Good stuff!

0703-oddbodsfinger-prideandprogudicedoublegatefoldsleeve - You mean we were supposed to understand the lyrics? The MT65 came through well - especially the overdriven organ parts in the middle - Wakeman, eat your heart out! I'd say it was a minimalist approach because you only used one instrument, but it sounds more complex. Clever song as usual.

Hohoho ! No ukulele. :-o
Oddbods, your song sounds a bit like played completely with some of those small old Casio keyboards. :hihi:
I call tell, 'cose I've just managed to get rid of one, Mello will be a great opponent if he uses it ad fundum... (of course you play with a handicap : Mello's one has a ROM inside with "world songs" !!! :help: )

HOT from the needle : future Liqih products may have a touch of the old Italian Yen stomp boxes... Little by little I'm getting more space in my studio ! :D
I'm waiting for more KvR visitors, I still need more space...

Ciao,

Max... .. . :P

Good one! Thanks Me109. I am really glad that you enjoyed it. :D Funny to think that I almost trashed the project a few times when the drum part were driving me to drink.

Cheers,
