Oddbods did a great job here...more later.

Max gave Mello a Casio and he won't even let me have a simple wahwah from his BIG PILE of STUFF... Here, a Crybaby/Morley costs more than I make in six months...

I felt rather uninspired and out of sorts this month.
I almost didn't bother to enter.

Then I still didn't bother, but I did enter. :|

Oddbods, when you go in "overdrive" it realy sounds as Emmerson on his Hammond; you're a brave man, this month, well done on such a "horrible" little thingie.

Adj, sorry, I have no wha ! When I wha, I do it with fx-processors (made in China ! Like everything lately; most of those things are maybe made in your own neighbourhood ! ).

BTW, adj, you have an email with very "hot" stuff in it !!! :hihi:

Adieu,

Max... .. . :P

Barnadine!!!! I was beginning to think that I was the only one who new who Gentile Giant was!

You are short listed!

Me, LagunaRaising, BeardedOne.... following closely.

In fact, these four are really the only works that remind me of 70s prog... IMO.

Barnadine... LOL  !

Echo Voodoo wrote:Laguna Rising - Pale Dragon Returns -> Covers a lot of ground, sound-wise. I like the flute early on.
me109 wrote:LagunaRising-Pale-dragon-returns - The opening theme is well composed - I would have liked to hear it return more - but when you got to the transitional part in the middle, it really got prog. Somehow there was a subtle but persistant oriental feel to a lot of it. Good stuff!

Thanks gag3. Rarified company. I definitely dug Gentle Giant back in my late teens in the early 70s.

I swallowed the mountain by Mikewelch7 -
Great first entry! Good melody and changes - that should be just as important today as it was in the days of prog rock. Just keep in mind the two minute limit which is strictly adhered to or you are disqualified in the competition. But I'm glad that more wasn't cut from your song because I really liked it.
I only started on the contest in January, and take this as a warning, with a different challenge each month it's addicting but you'll end up writing and producing stuff you never knew you were capable of.
Looking forward to the next one - welcome.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeere's - more reviews!

The Ancients part 4 - Sepheritoh:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The track doesn't strike me as prog, but it does have a very nice atmosphere to it. Especially the guitars sound nice in it. I don't feel the orchestral parts work as well as they could but that's more due to the sounds than the arrangement as that is very nice. Overall, great!

Pale dragon returns - Laguna Rising:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spot on! Great choice of sounds, wonderful melody lines with that 'what key is next?' aspect to them. Cool mellotron flute and strings, nice synths and above all: you really get the idea of a band playing this stuff. The ending is a bit sudden, but still: top notch!

Swallowed the Mountain - Mike Welch:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Very cool track, the vocals are spot on and the overall sound has a very nice 'old recording' sound to it. Love the guitars in it. Unfortunately, it's way too long with it's 3:40 and it really hurts me that I therefore can't vote for it as it definetely was in the top of my list. Aside from that, the track is really, really top notch!

Pride and progudice (double gatefold sleeve) - Oddbods Finger:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Really, really cool and fun track! The harmonies scream 'prog' to me and the vocals are brilliant. I don't want to judge this one based on the fact that you got it out of that casio (impressive though that is) as this is a brilliant track on it's own merit. Great variation in rhythms, cool playing. Top notch!

Sepheritoh - The Ancients part 4 -> A very gentle mood piece. I feel like I should be looking out over a lake in the morning, watching birds take flight as the sun rises. Well laid out, nice track.

 Woow, thanks ! I'm glad you liked the track. I tried to use different melodic lines for each instrument as a real band should do.

Cheers
