Emerald Tablet - Summer Breezz -> A nice, spare arrangement, complemented with lovely vocals. Very nice.

Max el Belga - Mandrix -> Very busy sound, with hardly a moment to rest or relax. Has an organized-chaos feel to it. Seems like it should go on for another hour or so.

Max is back to Logic , which means: 1001 snippets in 2 minutes. Aum

Can I, if it's not too late, interest you in an old-fashioned search function on this thread to my post about what prog is.. ;) err.. reverend..?

..And name the song! It's not by GG..

Sorry duncanparsons... I didn't understand what you meant hear. I haven't followed close enough, perhaps?

Thou thinkest that no morre reviews cometh? Thou thinkest wrong! Behold!

Summerbreezzz - Emerald Tablet:

Cool arrangement, brilliant vocals and a nice song too. If I had to comment at all I'd say that the vocals sound a bit too good - maybe a tad of distortion or cut in the bass would have let them fit in better with the rest. But that's EXTREME nitpicking as the mix is really nice. Pity about the ending though, which feels a bit open. Anyway, top notch!

Overture For Shadows - Jplanet
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Very nice track with a great mellotron flute and a gorgeous Emersonesque B3 roaring and spitting in the second half. Love the synth sound that's soloing over it. Really feels ELP like - I love it. Longer version please! :-) Top notch!

Mandrix - Max el Belga:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Weird - but cool weird! Feels more funky than proggy, but it's a really wonderful track with all elements blending together wonderfully. Great guitars and cool drums. Makes you go 'Yeah!'. Great stuff!

Progerities - Liqih:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a very interesting track. It feels as though a modern, synth based group recreated their favourite prog music. A kind of 'Switched On Emerson', if you like. Kind of hipnotic. Cool!

Thanks, Marc, I enjoyed your track a lot, too!

I've already started expanding on the themes I use in that piece, in fact I brought it in to rehearsal yesterday, and it just might be the skeleton of a VERY long track on the next Shadow Circus CD!

Great track, Liqih!

Thanks for the dedication!

liqih - Progerties -> Starts off with a disjointed feel, and maintains it straight through. By about 1:10, it makes sense to me! Illumination. Funky sounds, interesting piece.

scamme - Momentum -> I like the drum sounds and the vibes - some cool mellow feelings there. Very easygoing, I like it.

Sorry chap! Within the first 5 pages or so, I recommended GG as an excellent example of prog for those wanting to get a 'sound' for what what '70's prog' is. It is sadly too true that hardly anyone remembers them now (they were'nt exactly well known back in the day either :()

I dressed it up in a misquote from 'The Battle of Epping Forest' from Genesis's superb 'Selling England By The Pound' LP :)

Sometimes I sound drink a little more tea before I post!!

I tried to stay away this month (errr in fact it was mainly due to lack of inspiration and time) but I'll be finally in. I wasn't happy with my first two attempts but my wife listened to the last sketch, she liked it and she convinced me to finish it and submit it. The whole process from sketch to almost finished happened late last night (1:30 to 4:00, woke up at 8:00 :x ) and a quick mixing/mastering/encoding early this morning. So dont expect miracles :hihi:

Anyways, uploading now and submitting in a few minutes.
If I go insane, please don't put your wires in my brain

I would dearly have loved to participate this month, and had every intention of doing so. Prog Rock is one of my favourite (and most nostalgic) genres. However, work pressures and work-related travel means that I'm not going to be able to submit this month (A pity, because the song in my head would be a clear winner :) ). Hopefully, I should be able to listen to the submissions, offer opinions/reviews and participate in the voting, though.

Thanks in advance to all who have offered submissions this month.
Time is an illusion - lunchtime doubly so.
