@jamesb & @kara - had to log in to the kara-moon forums to download jamesb's piece. It wouldn't accept my password, either, and had to have it reset. Recent changes to the site?

zeoy - Neptune -> Lovely intro. Nice tone throughout. I liked the Moog solo.

jamesb - GrazieFor11 -> Nice melody, good sounds, a gentle and interesting piece.

Sorry chap! Within the first 5 pages or so, I recommended GG as an excellent example of prog for those wanting to get a 'sound' for what what '70's prog' is. It is sadly too true that hardly anyone remembers them now (they were'nt exactly well known back in the day either :()

I dressed it up in a misquote from 'The Battle of Epping Forest' from Genesis's superb 'Selling England By The Pound' LP :)

Sometimes I sound drink a little more tea before I post!!

Ahhh. Okay. Serves me right on not paying attention

Good call on GG.

However, work pressures and work-related travel means that I'm not going to be able to submit this month (A pity, because the song in my head would be a clear winner :) ). Hopefully, I should be able to listen to the submissions, offer opinions/reviews and participate in the voting, though.

Thanks in advance to all who have offered submissions this month.
Doh! This one was yours for sure. Happy travels.

 I agree
This is the right month for your music style. A pity you don't have the time for an entry...

Cheers

How silly can one be?

I read the March contest call for entries: 70'ies. Wow. My fav area, the decade when I discovered music.

Then I started composing. What were they asking for? Hm. Funk. Yeah, Funk. Or was it progressive? No way, they can't ask for a progressive rock track in 2 minutes. I mean - do you remember Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound? The build up of the intro alone was five minutes minimum. So no way it was prog rock.

This I thought. Until five minutes ago. Sh....!!!! :-)

I am afraid no entry from me this month :-(

PS: Zeoy - for me you hit the nail on the head. GRAT track.

Cool arrangement, brilliant vocals and a nice song too. If I had to comment at all I'd say that the vocals sound a bit too good - maybe a tad of distortion or cut in the bass would have let them fit in better with the rest. But that's EXTREME nitpicking as the mix is really nice. Pity about the ending though, which feels a bit open. Anyway, top notch!

gag3, laguna rising - thanks for your encouraging and flattering comments. Maybe I will work on the 8 minute version of the song in my head, and post it to the music cafe. Just as soon as I get clear of these work commitments. :(

I am off to Zambia today (from Australia) - will be there for a grand total of 24 hours. Then next Tuesday I am off to Laos for 10 days. Things have gone totally stupid.
Time is an illusion - lunchtime doubly so.

Yeah,

I'm somewhat in the same boat, only a little differnt.
I've put my house up for sale, and for the last week and a half, I've had to succumb to complete strangers traipsing about my abode, which equates to me not at the puter to much.
I got about 3/4's of it done. Lets hope I can find time.

Scoops
I have a really fast computer, some good mics, vintage musical instruments, and lots of fancy software. Just need some talent

jer1224 - Atlantis -> Some nice synth sounds in there. I really liked the bit between 0:59 and 1:11 (which repeated again a bit later); some funky and fun stuff.

Post

Echo,
Thanks I enjoyed listening to your song as well.
I'm a bass player, but it's fun to play around
with the synth sounds. You can get real creative in a hurry!
