Hello everyone

Ive seen that other people have got it working... Could anyone give me some pointers for running KGB (Kontakt version) on Receptor?

THANKS

The best results for me:
Use 16 bit versions - maximum velocity layers, but the lite versions where only white keys are sampled.
*******TURN DFD off********
Season to taste with FX....

THANKS PHIL!

But Im not there yet... let me rephrase: How do I install it?

Post

I'm about to try to install SCARBEE KGB with Vintage Effects as well. Any pointers on the installation process? Anyone get the Vintage Effects working on Receptor?

Hi Derhamm,

SCARBEE KGB itself does not run on receptor (Because of Halion reliance on unsupported syncrosoft dongle). The Kontakt library versions do run on receptor - just simply load the libs Phil specified into Kontakt.

The Vintage effects are a simple vst, with no reliance on the dongle. You can simply follow the unsupported method to install this. I have this running great - was easy to install.

To clarify, the "Vintage Keyboard Collection" and the "Keyboard Gold Bundle" products are now both available in two formats:
-- VSTi (Halion Player, uses Syncrosoft dongle, so no go on Receptor)
-- Kontakt (sample library format)

Also, Scarbee is having a 50% off sale between March 14-21:
http://www.scarbee-shop.com/index.php

For example:
-- the "Vintage Keyboard Collection -- Kontakt" for U.S. $149.50
-- the "Keyboard Gold Bundle -- Kontakt" for U.S. $199.50(includes the above plus the Vintage Keyboard FX plugin).

Wow, those are killer deals.....I cannot resist a killer deal.

So, is the FX plugin worth the extra $50 bucks? How heavy is the FX plugin on the CPU?

Thanks in advance!

Post

THe FX plug is absolutely worth it in my opinion. It brings the raw samples to life - and incidentally does the same for other electric piano emulations.
I am unsure on the CPU hit - I never noticed it to be a hog - but I really only use my Receptor for live use, playing one sound at a time, so it is not usually a concern.

I agree with Phil, the FX plug works well for adding vintage character to EP type sampled instruments. I often use other types of effects on analog emulations (eg. Luxonix-1310), but I sometimes will use VKFX here too. Overall, worth the money, and pretty low CPU usage. I have created multis with VKFX on multiple channels - no big deal.
