Freq Analyst Pro: Win2000 vs. XP

I demo'd Freq Analyst Pro on Windows 2000 and recently updated to XP and bought it.

However, several things seem not to work which did work when demo'd on Windows 2000. Namely, the "instant" frequency curves seem to get "stuck" rather than recede and the opacity doesn't work (and actually tends to crash things completely).

Must be a graphics issue, but nothing aside from the OS has changed.

Any thoughts/suggestions? ;)

Thanks in advance! :)

What host application and plugin version (DX or VST) are you using? It should actually work better on XP than W2k!

About the opacity not working, it is highly host dependent: I have seen an old Wavelab demo not liking it that much... For the instant curves, did you check that the 'Rate' parameter value was high enough?

Post

Hello :)

That's the strange thing, the host is the same (eXT) that I was using on Win2K- I have a couple of others I can try it in though, just in case.

The rate amount was high and it does seem to make the curve recede partially, but not completely.

I'll do some more tinkering around and see if I can be more definite about what is happening.

Thank you for the quick reply! :)

And what about the "release" parameter? This is the one that controls how fast the instant curve is supposed to recede (if I correctly understand the meaning of the term "recede" in this context, as I am not a native English speaker).

Maybe send a screenshot of your setup, if this is an issue with the parameters I'll see it instantly.

About the crash this is really strange as EnergyXT is usually quite stable and this opacity thing is not an "exotic hack". Any other EnergyXT user out there?

Yes, release is fine and everything works as it should and did on Win2K - until I do anything with the opacity slider. It's not a parameter issue, I can be sure of that.

Once I touch the opacity slider, the curves start to "stick" and the plugin gets unstable.

I can live without the opacity feature, but it's weird that it worked fine on Win2K on the same host, but does not work on XP.

Thank you for the help :)

You are right, it's totally weird. But there may be a reason for this if eXT does different things on Win 2K and XP. I can assure we have nothing specific for XP, so maybe that's sopmething you could ask the eXT guys (I'll try to see with them but it might be faster if you do it on your side).

BTW did you try our other plugins that offer the same functionality to check wether they have the same issue or not?
- The new Blue Cat's Dynamics - try this one first since we redesigned the user interface code.
- the free Blue cat's FreqAnalyst

Good idea, thanks! I'll try another one to see if the same issue arises :)

Confirmed. Same issue in Dynamics - changing the opacity from anything other than 100% freezes the dynamics display. Interestingly, moving it back to 100% brings back the display.

BUT... it works fine in Chainer. So, this might, after all be an EnergyXT on Windows XP issue.

Hope that this helps track it down a little more easily :)

Thanks for your feedback.
We'll get the latest version of energy XT and try to see what's really happening.
