Forum member counts are probably influenced by how good or bad the forum software is in the eyes of potential members. How is Orion's board?
Also, some companies work harder than others to emphasize community and work hard to get forum participation. Do the Orion guys push community, publicize it to get attention and invite forum membership?

I suspect that 33052 number for Sonar is actually for all Cakewalk forums -- since I get a 33072 (not including banned members) when I ask for members list from any Cakewalk forum.
The overwhelming number would be Sonar users, but that does include users who might have signed on because of Home Studio, Project 5, Kinetic, Instruments etc.

Forum member counts are also influenced by how easy it is for spambots to register.
But the digi forums are for all digi products aren't they (does that inlcude Avid, too)? And I'd guess forum membership goes back a good many years.

How convenient the Orion guy doesn't have FL Forum numbers.

From where do these numbers come? Official forums?

That stat doesn't really mean anything to me at all. If owners in some way HAD to be members, or were automatically signed up, then it might mean something, but I could almost swear that those numbers are completely irrelevant. I've been to Looptalk all of 2! times since I bought FL three years ago, most recently to download a beta for my first time EVER just before FL7 was officially released. I think people who join forums look for places where they can learn to make music and don't necessarily gravitate to their hosts' homes.
This is my only DAW forum. I think I was signed up at futureproducers as well... in fact before KVR. If I changed hosts it might well still be my only forum. I'm not interested in hearing people complain about the hosts, which is probably what their own forums are for...

I'm registered at the Cakewalk-forums but eXt is the only host I currently use - go figure - statistics are great*, ain't they?
*actually they are, but the problem is that you usually have to study statistics in order to use them properly - most people think they can throw around a few good sounding numbers and that's about it...

Yes, 97.3% of all statistics are completely bogus. 99.8% of all the bogus statistics are used to lend a false sense of precision to an argument or position.jens wrote:I'm registered at the Cakewalk-forums but eXt is the only host I currently use - go figure - statistics are great*, ain't they?
