Flashback - The 70's
Ah yes, The 70's I remember them fondly. Lots of great music came out of that era.
The theme for this month will be Prog Rock of the 70's

Prog rock is some kind of rock you play looking very serious.
When people ask you if you play prog rock, you say "no" and mubble something...
I feel it's my "new theories" day, today.
Theoretical Max... .. .

It's very simple really. Prog rock is the result of this natural phenomenon that results in human behaviour called the "EGO".
The ego likes to overpower the human circuit making one's hands flail erratically to and fro until some other human vessel (preferably 5,000 or more other human vessels)takes notice and cheers enthusiastically.
In the case of a musician, their hands move in an erratic fashion on whatever instrument they play.
The only cure for prog rock are manufactured top40 artists ala Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys.
These artists make one realize how silly music is and taking oneself too serious from the "ego trip" (like Rick Wakeman and his jolly ice capades) makes one look even more silly (or silliestest).

Oh boy, here come all the underhanded insults at prog rock.
Ok, the Rick Wakeman on ice thing was embarrassing. But Fragile and Close to the Edge more than made up for that.
So far, nobody in pop music has made up for Vanilla Ice or K-Fed! And I will write 20-minute solos until someone pays up for that!

I was actually insulting Britney Spears in using her name within a prog rock conversation. Poor thing. When she grows her hair back i'll stroke it and make it up to her.jplanet wrote:Oh boy, here come all the underhanded insults at prog rock.
Close to what edge? The edge of an ice cap? BWAAAAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Hey now relax....i'm just kidding. You can't be so FRAGILE....BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAOk, the Rick Wakeman on ice thing was embarrassing. But Fragile and Close to the Edge more than made up for that.
20 minute solos???????? What a disgrace you are to prog rock! TRUE prog rockers can last for at least 6 hours and 35.33 seconds of guitar wankery. So far, nobody in pop music has made up for Vanilla Ice or K-Fed! And I will write 20-minute solos until someone pays up for that!
...and nobody in prog rock has made up for Peter Gabriel and his red riding hood dress performance with Genesis!

If the idea of disco and Arby's sandwiches wasn't so tantalizing, this would mean WAR!!!

Cool track with some awesome sounds in it - the B3 sound and the lead synth suit the mood especially. Very complex harmonies and cool rhythms. Great stuff!
I hope the harmonies aren't too grating - I guess this was a little bit more on the jazz fusion side of prog rock.
That's one good thing a prog - it's got so many sides! Enjoying all the different takes on it this month
